Anyone able to offer any advice about what bike I should get next?

My poor old vf400 is getting on and I dont like having to thrash it so much to get it to go at the speeds I want.

I dont want to spend to much as Im still a pretty new rider and clumsy, around £1500ish.

What Ive been looking at so far is:

pretty old CBR600fs, good condition, lowish miles around 1993-1997 bikes are in my price range
around 2000ish Yamaha Fazer 600s, I like these alot very retro looking bit not sure about the sitting up riding position.

anyone got any advice or other suggestions?

id go with an older cbr600f, good value, plenty quick enough id say, had a FT myself:

my first big bike, nice and easy to ride and easily rapid enough for the roads

what year was that one? some people have told me to stay away from the pre98 steel frame ones...

Binary Shadow

was a steel framed carbd 1996 model, other than the extra weight i cant see any reason not to have one

a mates dad has one of those that he has turned into a trike, only driven it around the block and it terrified me.

Ive only been riding 14months and on a 23yo 400.

600 Bandit, not as fast as a cbr but still massively quick off the mark with great handling and a more comfortable riding position. I rode my dads 1200 bandit for a while and although the power was great all that extra weight really ruined the agility of the bike.

I had a 1200 Bandit and hated it, way way too heavy and just seemed sluggish (it was no faster than my old SV650 which i loved to bits before it met a wall).

To be honest for £1500 if you manage to get a alright nik one you cant go wrong with either of your choices. The 600 bandit is also a good choice.

Im currently on a BMW 650 GS and really dislike it, it has ZERO power (you would think a 650 single would at least pull of at low revs but nooo) and since Ive had a few problems with it since I got it I have no faith in it what so ever.

Next bike... new Dirt bike (Husky TE310 or TE450) and maybe a SuperDuke 990 :)

Will have to wait till 2012 tho methinks :P

I think Im going to go for a Fazer. The choice in my budget is a lot better and they seem to have had better more caring owners than the others.
They also look old skool quite alot similar to my current vf400.

I would love a cbr but think I will wait till I can afford a newer FI/Alu frame one.

Can i take your old bike off your hands? :D
