Quote from: chrisdickoBet there will be a nice remap for a few hundred as well to get it near 200BHP!!

Try emailing chippeduk or emaps and see what they say. My BMW 320 TD which is 150BHP standard gets around 40 extra BHP from a remap, and stupid amounts of tourqe. Good old diesels

And a clutch that goes done in about 10k miles, and significant extra stress on the driveshafts, gearbox, cv joints, engine mounts, gearbox mounts, turbocharger etc

Doesnt seem a problem with the BMWs. Not on the forums anyway! The main prob is with a certain turbo, which is sh*te. But no problems from remapping.

link me uo for the diesle bom forums !

mine might be too old.... but worth a try !

diesel + remap = black reek out the exhaust

remap = generic odb reflash of factory ecu with a map usually downloaded off the internet.

Hmm, not really with the ones ive read about. With the companies which ive read have done it with BMWs, they do put a standard map on it, then tweak it for your car. They sit in it with you while driving, and see what needs doing. Black smoke it also just about eliminated.

Is yours a diesel knighty?? If not there wont be much point of a remap tbh.

But if it is, both these companies are very good

They all do it exactly the same way - modify or reflash with downloaded maps. The amount of control they have is extremely limited. Black reek aplenty. The only proper way to do it is with an aftermarket ECU.

It does work, but its a dirty fix, and loads of tuning companies who dont know an AFR table from a VE table have sprung up charging £200+ to do a 5 minute flash on an ECU.

Fair enough. Im just going on what Ive read. When the car has been mapped, they take the car out for a spin, and tweak more things. They check the MAF readings, temps, injectors working how they should. And tbh, the black smoke does get reduced! Not one review on BMW sites has said more smoke is created, the majority of the time its reduced! TBH Id be willing to pay £200 for the car to gain anywhere from 30 to 50 BHP, and nice amounts of torque gain.
