anyone got any idea what the trick is to get the outer cv joint off my audi?

I only need to change the boot but its being a t**t to get off. The manual just says to pound it off but that has done no good.

here is the git

next question is...

is it possible to tighten the boot clamps without the proper crimp tool?

and if so how?

yes, use blunt wire cutters ;)

its hard to describe....

the clamp looks like this....

_____||______

........^......^.......... (nip points)

you need to nip the  upright bits together, right next to bottom where the long bit joins on....

either that or just use some decent cable ties and put em on tight ;)

I have a tie-puller that does the metal ones, though normally with most CV boots Ive done over the years they tend to just put long tie-wraps in the box.  Some people dont like nylon ties, but Ive yet to have one fail on me.
