..Look at a car tomorrow.. could be a goodun so might buy it.
1995 Range Rover 4.6 HSE, will chuck some pics up if i decide to go for it.
3 cars i hear you ask.. yes 3!
nice. is that in charminster by any chance? i saw a dark green one for sale for around £4.5k
nope im avoiding green, its 100 miles away in wales.. madness im sure youll agree
if you get 5mpg out of it, youve got a good one.
Quote from: Chuck Norrisif you get 5mpg out of it, youve got a good one.
Id assume this thread is dead with the new Road Car Tax for Said Vehicle
why in the lords holy name are you buying a 4.6l V8 tank to drive around A roads for?
considering the tax band on that one is the same as my vectra/calibra im not worried and they are good for up to 23mpg on a run.. if your careful.
and why.. because i can? because i want to?
Great, youre going to pollute several times more than necessary, wear the road surface more, create visual obstruction, and best yet--be 10X more likely to kill another motorist due to the inherently poor design of a Range Rover for street use.
Because you want to? No, because youre a selfish ass. Might want to try a penis pump, theyre dangerous to your vascular tissue, but far safer for the other motorists on the road.
pfft whatever mate pollution can kiss my ass, fed up with the CO2 BS, the climate has been warmer before, this weather is nothing new, and theres stronger evidence showing its down to solar activity not CO2.
Youd have to hit something in the 1st place to kill anyone and lets face it doesnt happen every day, yes they cause a visual obstruction but so do HGVs.
Paying road tax just like everyone else so the roads should look shiney new in my wake tbh but then they dont spend that tax on roads now do they.
Nothing unsafe to other motorists assuming they dont do anything silly like drive into me head on!
And i dont need a penis pump mate no matter what you might think.

If that came out of anyone elses keyboard, I probably wouldnt have laughed so much I fell out of my chair

Whilst Im sure Binarys accidents werent his fault I must admit I did laugh at the irony...... sorry
On topic though I must admit Range Rovers are fun and whilst sportsmen the world over can thrash any number of motorboats, jet skis, and god knows what without any finger pointing I see no problem in the car enthusiast doing the same.
yes because theyre being used for what theyre designed for, if binary was a farmer and had to use a 4x4 to get across his fields, fine
the only thing that pisses me off is that hes not, he lives on what looks like a housing estate, in the middle of a vast urban area
why do you need a 4x4 for that?
why do you need to go flying along in a motorboat or a jet ski? Just because they were built for fun makes it ok? So by that logic (if you can call it that) if they built a range rover that was just for fun but still guzzled the same amount of fuel that would be ok would it?
I saw a blue calibra in a hedge the other day, smashed up front. I honestly but cruely though of you.

No one cares.

But it all boils down to him saying Ive got a small dick, a big wallet to compensate and very little brain.
The most likely person to die in a rangerover crash is the driver of the rangerover.

Only if you were using it for off road fun, theres no point in doing it and staying on tarmac.

you cant build a range rover for fun, theyre (meant to be) practical vehicles
shows how much you know, 30 seconds drive and im in fields and country lanes.
You can bang on about penis size all you like it has sweet FA to do with that, can someone not just like a car?
And i wont be able to tow a trailor with over 1.5 tons on it with anything youd suggest anyway so the lot of you haters can stroll on.
I like the range rover...off road.
What price are forresters these dayts? surely theyd be good at pulling a lot of weight? An AWD V70 Cross country maybe? (Not sure on price) and they have the AWD aspect
Although This (http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/CARS_popup.jsp?searchform=&modelexact=1&lid=search_used_cars_full&photo=1&state=none&sort=3&hassearched=Y&make=TOYOTA&min_pr=3000&source=0&model=ANY&max_pr=5000&miles=1500&agerange=&mileage=&postcode=ne27+0az&bodyid=0&fuelid=0&colour=&transmissionid=0&ukcarsearch_full.x=45&ukcarsearch_full.y=18&ukcarsearch_full=SEARCH&start=2&distance=95&adcategory=CARS&channel=CARS&id=200710104226213) would be tempting in your situation.
I just think theres a lot of other solutions to your problem.
Although what about the 3.0L V6 Omega? Estate, big car, 3L powerful (Or is it the 2.5?) and RWD so you could take it drifting at some track now and again :D
they are still using just as much juice and 4x4 so doing as much damage
so what if i want leather seats climate control and electric everything, the rangey fits what i want perfectly
why dont u just get a diesel if u want a towing car?
I hope you take it offroad and get it filthy then :P
Quote from: Eddwhy dont u just get a diesel if u want a towing car?
He actually likes the car :)

Because the derv version is equally as economical.. meaning crap to so id rather the petrol as it gives me the option of going LPG later
if thats the V8... Id look for a one thats already converted to lpg if your really thinking about lpg as an option.... have heard its bloody expensive for one of those :o
£2-2.5k depending on where you go.. im not that bothered about it tbh not many places sell LPG round here anyway
yep, bloody expensive lol!
tho if your not doing many miles, who gives a monkies ?
true, a few shows a year will rack the miles up but day to day will be very few
Go for it mate, you like your cars and if you want a range get it i say.
Jaimz
you only live once (well so im told) the insurance is cheaper than my damn vectra was LOL
Would this be alongside the astra?! thought you werent going back to fwd anyway?
Jaimz
Quote from: Binary Shadowshows how much you know, 30 seconds drive and im in fields and country lanes.
In all honesty though, thats like justifying the purchase of a yacht saying you can see a pond from your window.
The fields 30 seconds drive from your house - are you actually going to be taking the range rover into them? On purpose?
i was pointing out that i dont live in a city center.. and i dont need to justify it to anyone
Quote from: JaimzWould this be alongside the astra?! thought you werent going back to fwd anyway?
Jaimz
Iv not decided on if im keeping the astra or not, its a bit go karty which is cool and even tho its FWD its too gutless to be a problem at the moment.
Holds on well so might convert it to a turbo and drag it to tracks for fun.
*cough* £400 per year tax!
That aside...
Scorpion racing kit is the order of the day. Body lifts, suspension lift and disconnects, Rollcage, second fuel tank skin and FIAA approved rollcage.

man, get a unimog
lol only £180 a year on tax on this bad boy as its pre the emissions band.. wooo yay
deposit is down as its a solid motor
man this thing is clean!

That was crewel  :mutley:
That is very neat! To be honest I was expecting a rust bucket!! How many miles has it done etc? Get some piccys of the inside as well.
will get some decent pics when i pick it up a week sat.
90k miles on it, full service history, most of it land rover, looks like its never seen mud lol
well youll need to sort that out for a start!
Thats in really good nick, I hope its a sound purchase for you.
lol congratulations binary, your now a middle aged mum!
lol whatever
Quote from: Binary Shadowlooks like its never seen mud lol
Like most range rovers then..........
Quote from: redlol congratulations binary, your now a middle aged mum!
nah, it needs to be an L200 Animal or Timberland, something with a truckback if you buy a Large 4x4 for the school run.
That thing is the same as a mate owns, but hes had his converted to LPG. Great thing to drive, though I usually only use it for dragging cars out of the way of the drive if im in too much of a hurry to call the coppers.

Sounds like the sort of thing mine might get used for

You need a decent chain, with 2 nice sized snap shackles that will clip to the wishbones. Clip them on, drive 10 forwards whilst ignoring the noises coming from the car behind you, unsnap them, park the 4x4 back up again then go to work. its great fun.
Well the astra went in part ex so im down to 2 cars (as usual).
Got some decent pics of it now tho:

Jaimz
Other than the footwell that interior seems immaculate!
theres a bit of wear on the drivers seat but after 90k miles you cant expect it to be as new

Towing your other cars behind in case you crash? Oops, I crashed this one, nevermind, Ill jump in the Vauxhall.
Looks really smart mate, 4x4s you gotta sit in one before you get them, theyre great cars for long journeys. They v8?
yeah its a 4.6 V8 petrol
Yeah you really do have to sit in one to get what they are about.. lol its a crazy car really, i love it.
The size is great :) so comfy to
