Tesco Value Washing-Up Liquid: 17p
Pair of old pants: 0p

You mug!  :P

Does it come with acoustically tuned wooden knobs?

Soz, did you look into the clay stuff? I was thinking about giving it a ago but it looks too much hardwork.

The kit looks worth the money, but 10 minutes down the motorway is gonna ruin hours of shinying.

edit: this is a very awesome post.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Binary Shadow

washing up liquid generally has a salt content and is therefor bad mmkay

Edd

i dont bother in winter anyway, its only worth polishing the car in summer

Binary Shadow

i try to wash mine every week in the winter, stop the salt and crap building up

Edd

some of us have galvanised bodies so its not a problem ;)

Binary Shadow

if you think that will mean itll last forever you are sorely mistaken

Edd

i dont need to last forever, ill be getting a newer car soon enough so it wont be my problem

Got a Jap car sitting outside thats 15 years old, gets washed yearly, and has not a spec of rust. Paints fading a bit on the roof, though. :P Indeed, I believe dirt acts as a preservative. The VW has nice thin crust of white salt like some sort of prosciutto-esque automotive wainscoting .

DEViANCE

my mum and dad think that dirt holds the car together.
i hate washing cars but i do like the end result, esspecially on a nice car.

The only time the old Megane got washed was when i sold it.

So does splashed water from the road, and the dirt can have a much higher salt content. All cars paint should be easily capable of withstanding it and you should rinse it off very well before you polish.

I have used the stuff on a few cars without any problem, if anything the result is exceptionally clean, but there is no oil on the surface once you have finished. It needs waxing ASAP. The result can be exceptional though, especially if you have a grimy car.

Wash all over, including the windows, rinse thorughly, dry, wax the metal bits, admire.

redneck

dirt is corrosive, water trapped under the dirt starts to create a galvanic corrosion reaction, where the ions start to mess around and affect everything.

galvanised bodies are only a sacraficial dip which prolongs the corroding of the material .

Jaimz

But still, no need to spend quite so much on cleaning products to stop the body rusting surely?!

Did the stuff come yet? Wanna see the results :D
