I doubt your pedals are worth rebuilding or even that its possible. Basic replacements are dirt cheap. You should be able to get some resin Wellgos for $10 or so. Remember that the left pedal has lefty threads: righty loosey.

Here we go, 3.50GBP:

If you want to spend a bit more, the alloy ones are less nasty looking.

As maxi says just ditch it and buy a replacement pair.

Or go and find a ditched bike and get them from that. Ive seen a couple of bike frames with the gearwheel and pedals still attached.

Grab a set of spanners and go bike hunting

Seriously though, youre unlikely to get much cheaper than those ones.  Try ebay, might get some horrible ones for 99p or something...

These alloy platforms look pretty sweet for a tenner:

Tho for a couple more bucks you can get the rebuildable Wellgo platforms:

Wellgo makes very decent pedals, although their lower end kit sometimes needs a bearing adjustment out of the box.

But if it was for my bike, Id get some classic MKS Touring Sylvans and clips. Sylvans are beautifully made in Japan and a pleasure to service, cheap too!

Alternately, some GR9s which are the last toeclip platform pedal made in the world:

Ive got some of these in my parts bucket waiting for me to find some slot cleats:

8) Smoothest bearings ever. :D

i got a new one for even cheaper.

free. it was under warranty :D

but i will look to invest in a set of spanners, fc9k, you are right :D there are plenty of potentials for spares kicking around. someone at uni even has teh same bike as me, but with better forks

If you actually do, I will hunt you down and kill you.  I consider it retribution for whichever filthy cottonreel stole my back wheel.

Even with normal wheel nuts they will still try to steal them. If you are going to use a D lock get something to fasten the front wheel to the frame too. A sturdy metal cable and padlock would do nicely.

Just a reminder:

scroll down to the pic. I lock mine like this with a looped cable (http://www.rei.com/online/store/ProductDisplay?storeId=8000&catalogId=40000008000&productId=47899955&parent_category_rn=4500825&vcat=REI_SEARCH) through the front wheel, then put on the lock before closing.
