I have been thinking lately about a possible business oportunity.

e.g.
Someone is looking to buy a used or even new car, and they dont know much about the market, what to look for in a used car, where to go or even what cars are good, etc.

Would these people be willing to pay for the service of someone who knows what they are doing, has lots of connections with garages, dealers etc, knows what to look for on particular cars and stuff. It could be a fixed price or a percentage or something.

the idea came to me after the last couple of months as I have helped over a dozen friends and family find and buy cars after they told me what they wanted, and it has worked out perfect. and no they wearnt all rovers.

what you think?

considering you can already get rac inspections and stuff i dunno how well youd do

Serious

I have seen TV programmes already do this sort of thing on Men and Motors, damn shame its been removed from freeview. The problem is getting publicity and enough paying customers through the door.

you could always try it - see how it works out - set up a website or stick an ad in local free newspaper - maybe something like....

"Do you know what to look for when buying a car? - We do and we can help you. For a small fee the car inspector can give you assistance and peace of mind." or

"Buying a car is the second largest purchase you are likely to make in your life. If you want to be sure you are making the right decision then consult the car inspector first."  etc...

www.thecarinspector.co.uk seems to be available

stick a few bits of info/tips on the site though make sure each one of them drops an anchor towards your service i.e. "Always check for rust behind XYZ, this is sometimes hard to spot so it is always useful to get a professional opinion..."

Although youd have to document all your findings like take a picture of under the bonnet to proove the colour of the paint work so it shows the condition of the car.

I think you can get HPI checks done for about Ã,£40 too... this could be an extra service.

I think itd be a small market, and maybe via word of mouth advertising would be best. But I think it could work.

^^^ dont know about most peoiple but garages only pay Ã,£25 for an HPI/etc check :o

need to be setup like that, or have a mate at a garage who can do it for you... then charge Ã,£40 for it so its no extra cost to the customer and pocket yourself an extra Ã,£50 :)

and what dave said ;)
