Title: Punto problems
Post by: Rivkid on February 15, 2009, 17:54:23 PM
Last couple of weeks the car has been shuddering for the first few minutes of driving - seemed to clear once the engine warmed up. We had this problem before a few months back but it seemed to clear itself. Today its been really bad and took a good 5 minutes to clear but also the attached light was flashing during the problem. Once this light went off the car performed ok again.

Any idea what this is - or how urgently I need to get it to a garage? Im off all next week if it will just get me through this week!! Also will an idependent garage be ok or should I fork out for a Fiat dealer?

help !!!

Cheers!

and yes yes I know fix it again tommorrow blah blah blah.... :)

either - find out how to get the ECU to flash error codes - or get a fault code reader (cheap)

And see what it says

More likely to be a sensor than an ECU

Yeah think Im going to have to get a fault code reader so will have a look around. Did it really badly this morning and couldnt get above 30 for a minute or two. Only seems to do it at the start of journey - never have any issues once it gets over it.

Months and months later weve finally stopped the juddering of doom! New spark plugs, vaccumed air filter and cleaned the HT leads. Drives better than the day I got it. SO HAPPY!!!!! :)

for a full 3 days - then the warning light came on permenantly!! This morning it mis fired all the way to work so I called the RAC out to it at lunch. He plugged it into laptop and read 4 codes - 3 were misfiring cylinders and 1 was lambda sensor. Called the garage and theyre a bit skeptical but are plugging it in to their laptops Wednesday morning, resetting the warnings then road testing it to see what lights up again. Then Ill get a quote for a fix once theyve sussed it out. At least itll be done finally and I get a courtesy car for the day so not all bad.
