Its been ridden precisely twice  

Considering how well made it is I think the accident is unlikely. The hub fixing is only about 1 " further back than on most bikes.

You may ship it to me, Ill make sure it gets ridden properly.

Those drops arent actually that much of a liability. Theyre notorious for cracking on *high mileage* frames, but when they do--its totally not dramatic--you just skid to a stop as the tire jams against the seat tube. Bike shops around here call em "Crack n Fails".

I almost picked up a mid 80s dale a while back, with the more sensible drops. Im holding out for a nice touring bike. I want something that would look proper on a brevet whilst wearing a beret.

The only reason I havent gotten rid of the R500 (or is it 700?) is that is has the most gorgeous purple to blue fade and its not worth much now considering new dale road frames look ten times more up to date.

Id hold on to it as well. Its not like a new bike is going to be any better, really. 7 speed cassettes are wonderfully not fussy to shift, even in friction mode--and cheap to source. New bikes have threadless front ends which is a mixed blessing.  Stiffer, for sure, but not easily adjustable, and uglier.

Id ride the bike in the pic if the Schwalbes were subbed with 28mm Vittoria Zaffiros. Marathons are durable, but take any joy out of a bikes ride. A Soma Smoothie built up with an 8spd rear cluster, 105 mech, and Campy brifters via a Shiftmate is more my cuppa. Honjo fenders in hammered stainless to finish it off.

Easy enough to fix and if you weld a triangle of metal in as a support then its not likely to go again in the future.

Its aluminum. Not easy at all to fix. Well, easy for an expert in aluminum frame welding. Most frame builders would tell you to write it off. Smart general aluminum welders wouldnt accept the liability.

I was looking at an on-one pompino frame earlier, Ã,£99 in medium and the only one left in stock.  Only thing is theyre 120mm spaced so Id need new wheels along with new cantis, ahead stem, bars, bb, cranks.........

Id buy it and let parts accumulate till ya got a bike. :mrgreen:

Its a cool frame. I love the fixed with old skool cantis concept.

You could likely use an old f/w hub with the frame sprung slightly if ya wanted to build a wheel like a velorutionary.
