Do what I do, buy a car without power steering  ;D

Can't say I've ever had issues arise with the power steering in any of the cars I've owned, you'r not replacing the fluid with Lilt or something are you? Dem totally tropicaaal power slides, dred

knighty

not covered under warranty/guarantee with you just buying it ?

Binary Shadow

Still within 3 months but when asked the garage returned a 'engine and gearbox only mate' response... typical

Just had a proper look, res empty, under car coated, gonna have to jack up and remove the trays to confirm but i suspect rack fault.  :disappointed:  :(

Check your sale T&Cs against the SOGA and see if you can twist their arm on sorting it out.

I think I'm just as unlucky as you when it comes to cars tbh, my waterpump went and I've had to spend £170 getting that replaced (and timing belt at the same time, might as well...) - but I've still got a small leak and a sticking front caliper that needs replacing this weekend.

it might just be a hose ?  they're pretty cheap and easy to replace.... especially if you go to a hydraulic hosing place instead of a bmw garage ;)

f**king disgusting if thats true.
Surely garages have a duty of care in selling.
Anything in the description about recent service/mot,etc?

came with a brand new MOT (LOL since i took it back after a few days with a crack in the floor that should have failed) and didnt require a service at the time of sale..

If you end up paying for it, i would report them to VOSA, that crack in the floor is enough evidence to show whoever they are getting to do the MOT's is relaxed on the procedure, i'm pretty sure if you get Trading Standards involved they will get a VOSA tester to come an do an inspection on the car, they did with mine.

totally agree. definetly a few dodgy things gone on there. If you dont complain & nobody complains, then some other poor sods are going to fall into the same thing.
Maybe if you did complain, you will learn there are already a few others who have & they are under investigation. I would even be tempted to get an independent evaluation on the car & if
it is really road worthy & if it should have passed the MOT - though you may find that your car isnt road worthy & the garage wont let you leave with it becuase its unsafe & the garage you bought it from prob dont do the MOTs themselves.. but another company who operate with a similar name & same trading address do that side of the work.

I would also like to add as Egg has stated, when i had an issue the garage wouldn't let me drive the car until it had been inspected, and then i had to get it trailer'd away.
