It wasnt sagging due to my one and only thin leather treatment, just from miles was all. I turned the nose nut four turns and did some ole school lacing to firm it up. Rides pretty nice, and looks retrotastic on the city scoot.

I may trim the skirts when I get around to it, and Ill use the lacing with that style as well.

800+g of goodness. Thats four Flite Tis folks.

redneck

i like the seat post on this

i bet that latticework was a bitch to concept an figure all the wall thicknesses out

maximusotter

Dialed it in a bit, removed the lacing, and loosened by a turn. Its pretty close. I love the old timey look.

hmmmmmm, strange lookin - first glance I see another one of Maxs old bikes with its rack, mud guards and springy saddle....  but then upon closer inspection, damn! - theres disc brakes, aloominum and gears there!! :D

if I was a theif, id walk right past it probably..  yet its a modern bike with all the kit  stealthy..

maximusotter

Yup, its only the last of a long line of bikes Ive had over the years. Always black, with everything from lights to bells. I prefer the internally geared hubs, but Tiagra shifts without much of a fuss.

This ones an attention getter in person, as its a 700c wheeled bike with a large frame, and so it just looks massive and evil. The fat guy at the liquor store always stares at it with a "me wanna" look whenever I drop in for a bottle of wine. I get compliments from real rednecks too. Thats the best.

My old one was much more stealth with aluminum fenders that were crumpled to hell and painted with a brush. 7 spd hub and completely debadged solid black. It had a black Brooks B-17. For city bikes Brooks rock, you dont feel them much.

The ride on this one is much better despite being aluminum. The massively ovalized and butted downtube is likely the culprit. Its the same frame as Brodie uses on their high end cxbike, just kitted out for fast urban exploring.

I think it weighs twice as much as my singlespeed when its got the pannier and locks on it.

Serious

yup agreed... one foxy bike there.

lol can empathise with the attention getting of 700c wheels :D Been asked a few times now "why are your wheels so big?" 26" never seem that small until you place the bike up against them... dwarfs em :D lol.

Speaking of which havent updated my thread today! :D

Well, I menstruated yesterday!!! :w00t:

Went for a quick 12 miles in street clothes and came back with blood in my underpants. Apparently I just cant do Brooks anymore as my ischia cause me to sit a bit wrong. So back to the ugly WTB.

Im flogging the damn thing on craigslist as I love it so much, but need for it to go away, before I get any wise ideas.

And you know what else? Soap burns small ass fissures. :w00t:

Now back to your dinner.

funkychicken9000

ugh, God.  Its... horrible

snellgrove

...Nice.

On another note, my Cannondale Le Carbon shorts arrived today

Ill give them a 9/10 - and thats only due to the price, they are super comfy :) barely know your wearing them

I also got some piddly little Cannondale anklet sockies - they look like theyll never fit on your foot but they stretch a bit. again, real comfortable - and they were quite cheap too I think

Ooh, where from?  I need me some shorts for the summer, ordered a nice red gill SS jersey already :)

Was thinking about getting some anklet socks too, i feel like a willy in big ones :(

[edit] How much?!  Jeez...

maximusotter

I like shorts with Liquicell chamois. Its not really padded, but you glide like buttah and dont get saddle sores. I dont like most modern chamois, especially Pearl Izumis. Theyre good if youre into infant play with hookers though.

I buy all of my stuff, from CRC

Shorts

indeed, not cheap.. but you get what you pay for. the construction / build quality is incredible and they fit soooooooo well (10 panel design) - really good chamois too, I thought it was gonna be horrible when I first looked at it, but nope.. wrong (thank goodness)   did 25 miles today, will do some more tomorrow no doubt at all - couldnt get enough biking today, comfortable and nice weather

Socks
They arent brown, in real life... black :) crap picture there.

The Le Carbon Jersey is on my wish list, but its Ã,£64  - I cant justify that at the moment, as I already have 2 jerseys :P albeit nothing as nice as that, Im sure.. but they do the job fine :)

maximusotter

Meh, you just got it cuz it had "carbon" in the name.

I source jerseys for $20 or less during the winter sales. Its a freekin jersey. Long as it fits and has three pockets and no stupid wannabe team logos, Im happy. Often I just use wicking sports ts as Ive got the Camelbak on.

You can source 4 pairs of good 8 panel shorts for the same price as the Cannondales. Often the expensive shorts these days have too much padding and cause numbness or thigh chafing.

My last pair is a set of high compression Novara shorts on sale for approx 18gbp.

Just look for heavy lycra, good leg grippers, and a waistband that doesnt roll over. Chamois is personal, but less is more as padding serves no purpose other than to get compressed and give you a vauge saddle feel.

Durability? Well, my favorite pair of shorts, some professional level Performance Hydroflos lasted for 4 years of aggregated riding. Got them on sale for $25. Now theyre $75.

I see no reason to throw a bunch of money at clothing when I know what fits and works--and it aint the luxe stuff.
