I got mine done today cos I had bird poo all over the boot and mud in the footwells. £15 and they polished it, hoovered it all out, shined the wheels and tyres, done all the glass and mirror, dashboard, steering wheel and door cards.

Bargain, they did a really good job and it only took 20minutes.

Was it Tesco valeting, or valeters in Tesco car park?

Whats the score with doing that, do you leave your keys with them while your shopping?

Yeah you leave your keys, same with most carpark valets. I dunno if they officially Tesco but theyve been there for months and have a Tesco sign and everything. I sat on a bench where I could watch em without them seeing me watch em.

They missed a bit of sticky residue off the windscreen (from a parking ticket) and theres a couple of spots on the wheels where the spokes meet they missed but for £15 I cant moan.

When I use to go down to Grimsby a lot, there was valeters in the Tesco there, but they didnt have Tesco signs, and TBH looked like illegal imigrants, so I never fancied leaving my keys with them.

Theyve done a really good job of that. Last wash mine had wouldnt even get the congealed bugs off the front, Ill check our Extra and see if they do it...

Its worth the gamble for the shinyness. I did take my house keys off tho.

edit: and if you got the basic wash they wouldnt need your keys.

Actually, just remembered with my BMW I got a Valet Key which is a crappy grey plastic key which only unlocks the drivers door, not the boot, and obviously cant start the car with it!  8-)

I dont see the problem with leaving car keys. Its not that much different than leaving it in for an MOT or something.

my local tesco has a valeting place and they seem to use some good products. proper washmits and meguires etc

i cant get past the fact that ive seen them drop the mits on the floor and then carry on washing.

My car is 16-17yrs old - stuff like that doesnt bother me but if anything the paint is less swirly than it was.

I like to do the job myself, Ive heard valet places use horrid acids on wheels and the alloys will corrode over time. So Ive got myself some no corrosive stuff for my alloys.

bloke near our old unit used a boiler degreaser on rims that are black with brake dust, 20 secs there clean as day bought, but he waxes them after to seal them

but he dont recommended doing it to often.
