overall winner = person who won the most racers
ties = settled on points gained.

I dont like it personally. Dont see what the problem with the old system was other than Ferrari lost....

B.E keeps harping on about the person who wins most races should be champion - no Bernie the driver who is most consistant and knows when to settle for second rather than spin off should be champion! The other argument is that itll make it more exciting when people have to go for the win rather than settle for less so loads more attacking and overtaking - no all itll do is make it more like GP2 or A1GP - which no one f**king watches Bernie.....
Career, Wife, Mortgage... my sig was better when it listed guitars and PC's and stuff!

Maybe they should have 2x Champions & then a million dollar race off.

Its kind of odd, as technically someone could win 2 races & be crowned champion!

Oh well, theyve changed their minds now.

QuoteFollowing the decision of the World Motorsport Council of the 17 March 2009 to change the way the drivers' championship is awarded, the Teams gathered and unanimously agreed to question the validity of this decision," said a FOTA statement.

"The amendment to the sporting regulations proposed by the World Motorsport Council was not performed in accordance with the procedure provided for by Appendix 5 of the Sporting Regulations and, as per the provisions of the article 199 of the FIA International Sporting Code, it is too late for FIA to impose a change for the 2009 season that has not obtained the unanimous agreement of all the competitors properly entered into the 2009 Formula 1 Championship."

The regulation in question says that changes to the sporting regulations have to be "published at least 20 days prior to the opening date for entry applications for the championship concerned" unless "the unanimous agreement of all competitors properly entered for the championship or series concerned is obtained."

Serious

Did they have much choice?  :mutley:
