So Tescos delivering fresh produce to a store will suck up the £200? not bloody likely. Its a business expense that will hit the consumer in the pocket.

so deliver the fruit n veg out side of the CC hours save the £, IIRC you dont pay the CC if your already in the zone before the charge applies either

Im all for larger charges for SUVs - Tax should be £1000 per year, like it is in southern ireland.

Not really, the MR2 will do 3-4mpg when giving it some stick but 30mpg cruising admittedly

Larger vehicles - heavier road wear, more room taken up, more space in car parks, more dangerous in collisions, use more oil, use more rubber, etc etc

I wouldnt have a tax on expensive cars, just needlessly large vehicles.

But that sort of tax makes it unfair to the people that actually need to use them.

For example, the work I do isnt possible in a small Eco-worrier friendly car.  They wont let me on quarries in a small car, and they are now not allowing petrols on.
Diesel only, and larger vehicals only.  I also need to get across fields and other boggy/submerged areas.  I cant afford to buy a new car, and I wouldnt take a new car across what I do.  Citified 4x4s can have the £1000 tax bracket

There is piss all room in most SUVs for storage when compared to large estates though - its all taken up by seats. most SUVs are sh*te offroad to boot.

It fits leaving little room for people either side to get out. In the US they have seperate bays for SUVs - should have something similar here (But charge more for their use)

Theyre more dangerous in collisions for several reasons - theyre heavy, in winter weather owners seem to think they can plough through snow better not realising the wide tyres leave them less braking effort and easier to slide out of control, they aquaplane like mad due to the tyre width, they roll like mad because theyre top heavy, braking distances are appalling (And I include the cayenne in that)

I used to have a Landcruiser - but theyre utterly useless on our roads compared to a car and well out of place in 9/10 situations

Im with Mark on this one, sort of, Id tax those that dont need an large 4x4. If you are doing towing or farming or need it to recover vehicles then I can understand and a tax rebate should be established. Although I think those families that use 4x4s to drive around are utterly pointless.

You could get the same shop in a skoda Octavia, the shop most would do on a weekend and compare all the pollution aspects of an Octavia to a large 4x4, mpg, insurance, tax, buying cost, etc. Then I think the Octavia would make a great car for those families to run their kids to school and pick up £150 worth of shopping.

But the rangy looks in good nick, I noticed the number plate shows only 02, is that advertising? or is it a problem you have to get fixed?

Not to mention them being more likely to hit you in the face than the foot in a collision, but sure you dont get about that BS as long as youre looking Country Pimpin
