Why would you think that? iirc the Vinster lives in Yorks anyhow.

Its Sheffield, good effort though.

Chris

Lol, the high rise buildings reminded me very much of my visits to Glasgow, as did a couple of other features lol.

Sheffield is in Yorks (half of N England is).
Glasgow is much flatter than that.

/me waits for the Youtube video of Mr Roll reversing one morning...

Quote from: Eddyou know much about putting an FMIC in a 206 HDi?
or if its possible to use bits from the 2l HDi 138 on the 2l HDi 90 to bring it upto to that power?

You could put an FMIC onto the hdi, but it doesnt make your car any quicker really... it just allows you to run more boost/fuelling without the effects of heatsoak.
Am i right in thinking your car doesnt have an intercooler AT ALL?

If you bought a powerstick or went for a generic remap/new ecu and custom remap - THEN itd be worth upgrading to FMIC or a water chargecooler (like mine). Youd see about 35bhp+ increase and huge increase in torque and driveability.

Im not sure about swapping bits tbh, i wouldnt be surprised if it was the same engine, with a slightly different turbo and ecu. Maybe you could swap them?

Contact these guys, theyre very good: www.dervdoctor.co.uk

You can tell whose got the ankle bracelets!   ;)

Edd

no the 2l HDi 90 doesnt have an intercooler at all, i know i can get a remap to increase the power to a certain extent, but after that the charge temperature gets too high and an intercooler is needed

Im think you can probably mount the bit from the 2l HDi 138 engine, BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT...................... because the ECU is multiplexed it would be a complete pain in the arse to do, and probably not worth it in the end

Mark

Do you know what I would have done to that 306? Spent maybe £200-400 on a 2.0 turbo 8V petrol engine from the xm/406/xantia, manual boost controller, bam - 180hp & loads of torque

Or - a D6C for about £500 and the best noise ever.

Yes the 8v turbo lump is a increasingly popular conversion.

But the XUD9TE engine is bulletproof, and very reliable. Plus being a derv it has plenty of torque (naturally) anyway.

Edd - if you get a generic remap the charge temps wont have negative effects, the fuelling and injectors are perfectly timed unlike in the mechanical engines. Its why the 306 hdi can take a remap to about 125bhp and use no intercooler still, whereas the dturbo at the same power level would need not only the standard IC, but an uprated one.

If you were going above that initial power figure though, id FMIC/chargecooler it.

Call dervdoctor for a quick chat - theyl tell you whats best. Ask for Gav.

redneck

do you work for them or something?

DEViANCE

derv doctor are good from what ive heard, and they have tuned a couple of L-series nicely to, far to expensive tho. i can get my l-series to 180bhp for less than £400, they charge that just for a hybrid turbo.

Edd

i know the charge temps arent that high at 125bhp and below, but above that they are too high

its certainly an option, but id still be lagging behind the fabia vRS

Absolutely not mate, no. Im an technician for a company called Link I.T.
Iv been coming on this forum on and off since the early days of release of the XP Barton cpus and Walrusbonzo being the OCing guru lol. You can trust me, im genuine!

You are right about the prices derv doctor charge, they want about £400 for a hybrid for my car too, and about £500 all in to fit and adjust the wastegate arm, to match the fuelling, and do some of their other trickery.

The fabia vrs is an awesome car isnt it! 130bhp standard and theyle hit 180/190hbp quite happily :O
But the Pugs do become transformed with some tuning :)
