The headlights in my car have been compared to tea lights in jam jars. Which obviously is no good.
So I thought Id take advantage of the current crop of budget HID kits.

I started my search looking for the correct fitment for my car, 9005j.
No joy.  Unless I want standard underpowered Kyoto bulbs direct from Toyota.  At £22 each.

So, I managed to find some UK 9005s which will fit with minor modifications.

I ordered from http://www.hids-direct.com, as I didnt want to deal with some dodgy Chinese seller with no comeback if it all went tits up.

Trimmed the lugs with some snips to get them to fit.  Did they want to fit?  Did they buggery.
I spent 20 minutes swearing, forcing the drivers side bulb, until I realised the rubber seal was huge compared to the standard ones, so I swapped them.

Sucess!  Passenger side was done in under 5 minutes.

I got 6000k ones, and if Im completely honest I wish Id got some 4300ks or 5000ks as these are a touch too blue for my liking.
But replacement bulbs arent expensive, so I might see how I go.

make sure and have replacement on hand for when youre pulled by the peelers or at MOT time!

Not sure how tight they are on them there, but youll get pulled by the peelers here for them, and fail MOT

as long as they are properly aligned you should be fine.

Shouldnt have an issue tbh, as it was an option on these cars when they were new.

Could the inside of your headlights be dirty? Ive had that on a car before, poor light out and the insides were dirty.

It might improve them more now

Nah, Everyone with these puts HIDS on.  The Kyoto bulbs are 45w, and £22 each from Toyota, PIAA 9005J are £80 each, or Hids for £50.
Just old headlight technology.

Just need to get them aimed properly, Ive been and twiddled the nobs without much success of getting them to move at all.  Knowing my luck now, theyll be like the bat signal.

I cant stand cars with headlights that shine one higher than the other when theyre either on-coming or in my rear view mirror.  

Got a nice cut off line, no dazzling here
