Deaths Head

Dooms, its good to see youre ok.

1st time I had a go on a motorbike, I made the mistake of planting my feet, this caused the throttled to be opened so I got pulled along and my right foot went into the back wheel.  I was very lucky to only need new trainers :)  Note to self, a 250cc trials bike is not the ideal thing to start on.

Jugulator has had problems with his bike this weekend.  Hes still trying to find out whats wrong with it.

Leon

Cheers :)

lol, sounds like fun. Im sure it would be great to start on but given some help with it not just jump on and off we go :P

Im going to try and get hold of a new gear assembly over the next couple of days to get me back on the road (or alternativly drill a hole in the gear leaver arm and screw in a bolt as a temp messure)

Also need to contact R&G becuase their crash bung did exactly what it said it wont... it snapped off as soon as it hit the ground and that was only at 15mph. If it had snapped off and i was going faster and dragging longer i dred to think what the dmg would be to the frame / bike.

damn dooms i was hoping you wouldnt come off this soon.

sorry to see youve damaged your bike, hope it doesnt take much work to get it back to 100%, looks like it came away well even if the bung did snap off .

im glad it was a low speed lowside for your first one though, you at least had time to react properly to it.

yeah id deffo get onto R&G, the crashes ive had on the 250 hornet bent the bolt properly, shame the mounts on the 250s engine had cracked, the next two offs snapped the lug off the engine instead as it was weaker.

Leon

Defintaly experiance :)

Police dropped my stuff at my house today while i was at work... they even gave me all the policesafe stuff including the certificate... heh got it even tho i never finished :D

Serious

Quote from: maximusotterNice bike, Id ride one. Muchly too powerful for a beginner, though. 650s these days are little monsters. Id have recommended something 250-400cc.

Be careful, that thing is faster than 99% of the cars on the road. 0-60 in 3.6s! If I was your daddy, Id install a restrictor in the middle of the night.

A lot of bikers accidents are happening to older men who return to using a bike in their 40s and dont realise the radical increase in power that has happened over the last twenty or so years.

TBH having problems with cycling I have been thinking of getting one for myself but it would have to be relatively light.

Doh Dooms  :whoops:
how long have you been riding now?

anyone taught you the old "look where you wanna go" trick yet?
your whole body reacts to where your looking and the bike follows :-)
so dont go staring at hazards however tempting it is, otherwise youll head straight for them.
always look primarily at where you wanna go and just be aware of the hazards.

but seriously my first major (Ã,£Ã,£ wise) off was on loose grit in the road and that was at 30 ish  so i can entirely sympathise with how easy it is.

infact on grass or gravel i get really cagey when riding on it still.

600s arent what id call new rider friendly, as maximus mentioned earlier 250 - 400 ccs are great to get started on,
its a shame they dont seem to do those sort of sizes over here at all officially in attractive packages like they do in japan (cbr250, bandit 400 etc etc)

going on what serious quoted,
when i had my trackday off, my uncle fetched my bike for me the following weekend.
the difference between his 10 - 12 year old CB650 and my cbr600 ?
about double the power (50bhp to 100bhp)... which is silly silly and goes a long way to explaining some of the born again biker accidents.
