It was Varsity fencing (Cambridge vs Oxford) this weekend.

I managed to rate a place on the Cambridge 2nds team and what a days fencing! This was the first time Ive fenced in such a competition, with an audience of ~50 people (including my parents).

The mens 2nds competition was close throughout but we managed to win by 6 points. The best part of it for me was that I had probably the best two fights of my life against two really superb Oxford epeeists. You could really see them fuming as this unranked and virtually unknown epeeist from Cambridge took them to pieces.

Gah, shoulda let me know, Id have come and watched.  I took up fencing (briefly) last term, but the club got pissed around by the kit suppliers and they cancelled loads of classes.  Ended up loosing interest.  Shame really, as its something I could see myself geting quite into.

I know a chap on the cutthroats actually.

Serious

Good that you enjoyed it :)

/please note that i managed to resist any mention of picket fencing and fencing stolen property ;)

Im guessing probably Chris the beginners sec? great guy, I know him well.

Fencing suppliers always seem to piss around uni clubs, I dont know why, we had the same problem at my old club in Nottingham last year.

Well done Serious, Im suitably impressed at your restraint lol

Nah, a guy in my college actually.  Well, he was in the match against the nottingham badgers a while back anyway.

Ahhh, Ruari then, I think hes in your college.

The Cutthroats are all good guys, its a great team to be on. I was up with the lads from Nottingham this weekend too, also a good bunch.
