Fitting Parking Sensors
on: January 04, 2008, 21:36:28 PM
My mate recently reversed in to a little picket fence thing, as he said he was watching a child so he didnt hit her. He slightly damaged his bumper, and the car is only a month or so old, so anoyed him! The damage is minimal and not really noticable, but he will get it fixed anyway.

He will only take it back to Toyota, as thats the way he is!!

So, either hes just gonna get the bit repaired, which will be a bit of fibre glass and painting.

Or, he thought getting parking sensors from toyota. They cost £450 when a new car is ordered, but do you think hed get them fitted from toyota now?? If so, would they drill his bumper etc, or just fit a brand new one?? He said he spoke to a guy, and all the wiring etc for all extras are there, in every car built. Just he wants to know really if it will be parking sensors with new bumper, OR parking sensors and bumper repair still.

Cheers

He could just watch more carefully what hes doing? Parking sensors (IMO) would make people lazy and complacent. Weve all done daft things in the car - the lesson you take away with each experience is to be more vigilant and not make the same mistake again.

Womens tools, these sensor things...

He just didnt know if you got a new bumper with the sensors or not.

homebrewing the beeping ones is pretty easy - are the holes not already there in the bumper?  He could get them fitted professionally easy enough either way.

Toyota may be expensive but as fitting from any garage will come with guarantees they dont f**k up it would be difficult for him to come up with a reason tbh.

I could do with some tbh, some pikey stole my reversing mirror and when Im backing up to cars, 99% of them appear under my rear window anyway, cant see jack!

Ive seen a car with a remotely controlled camera installed at the top of the back window, on the inside, so you can see whats happening without turning around. Mind the car had virtually no rear view anyway, so turning around would have been pointless
