I can just imagine all the girls saying "ooh your car smells nice!" :P

Your wheels look as if they were designed for a wider tyre profile imho  :?:

Thats a good spot mate - Ive got 225/45/18 Toyo T1Rs on there, they are an 8" wheel and could have taken 235/45s - 2 probs tho - couldnt get Toyos in that size and would have rubbed at the back as the wheel offset is meant for the Impreza so is a bit out..

damn all rim protection tho :(

You should give Michelin Sport Pilots a go - I tried Toyo on the Activa, but the sport pilots gave a LOT more grip - the toyos were torn to pieces after 2500 miles - theres 4000 on the Michelin so far and theyre just starting to wear on the edges (Major disadvantage of the activa system is that the car is VERY sore on tyres)

By contrast, my experience; I have 225/40/18 on the Mondeo on 18J x 7 - they come from factory with Continental Sport Contact II. I was once forced by the leasing company to accept four Pilot Sports as replacements - never again. They were nosier, poorer ride, crap grip in the wet and crap in the dry. And I began to suffer dings in the wheels from the odd pothole, hadnt happened before. Im not saying they wouldnt be better than the Toyo though
The Continentals are better in all departments imho. Not a cheap tyre though, they cost the same as the wheel! I believe there is a German sports car company who use them on their factory fits too...

Porsche use sport pilots - so does the bugatti veyron

You must have had a bad set of Michelins! Grip like a dog to a drug dealers balls for me - but might be the extra weight and normal suspension of the mondeo?

Saying that the tyres on the firebird are some crap american make (General) but theyre the only ones that come in 265 wide and 15 inch and they seem to havw good performance - need to be at over Ã,£100 each

Citroen Xantia Activa 1410 kg
Mondeo Zetec S 1372kg

Then its the conventional vs active suspension!

The activa = tres heavy
