As I may or may not have said before, was having some diffs with the spark blowing out at high boost and general ignition issues above 1.8 bar.

The cure - coil on plug, or coil near plug. I went coil near plug, and went for the most powerful coils you can get for a reasonable amount of money.

Theyre LS2 truck coils.

Coils arrived today, and couldnt resist test wiring them in and setting up the AEM.

They worked like a dream straight away - yeoooo

Few pics of the test install

Now I can put a massive gap on the plugs with no chance of stuttering!!

Have to make a bracket to hold them in now, and tidy the wiring.

how quick was it <1.8bar ?

I mean driving experience, not figgures.... and how far are you going to push it ?

Mark

Its starting to get dodgy - when it comes on boost in 3rd gear its kicking all over the road, 1st and 2nd gear are pretty useless tbh.

5th is a laugh - its as quick as 3rd used to be once youre over 70!

Mark

It would be rude not to try for 2.3 bar

knighty

lol...

I cant remember from your other thread, did you / were you going to stick bigger tyres on the back ?

tho I cant imagine it would make that much difference...

youll have to bring it past some time when youre over here so I can have a look / you can take me for a spin ;) ;)

For people without a bit of mechanical knowledge, what exactly is this, what does it do?  :whoops:

Mark

It means that I can have a good gap on the spark plugs, and not get it blown out at high boost

Quote from: soopahflyAny idea in BHP/Torque yet?

All in good time :)

It needs a run on the local rollers soon to get it sorted at high boost.

Mark

did a bit of tidying up. This will do until I finish making the bracket that will clip on to the strut brace. The cut up bit of silicon coupler is to stop annoying vibrating. Ill be sandwiching a slimmer version in with the new bracket.

Have gapped the plugs to 0.040 - running like a charm. Ive seen videos of these particular coils producing a good spark with a 1cm gap!

knighty

well its pretty obvious what youve done wrong there

the air filter is too small !

Mark

I know - couldnt quite fit the 60cm filter, so had to get 45cm :(

Will try and do some videos on the road (private of course!) when we get back from Hamsterley on Monday.
