I dont think Ive ever had an interaction with a metro cop that didnt
leave me disgusted. Chicago, Seattle and other cities have never been a
problem.

This time was absolutely appalling. I was out training on the bicycle
and took a short cut through Centennial park. Over by the old croquet
courts they were setting up for a band concert. Barriers blocked
outgoing traffic but allowed incoming. So I ride through, slowly as
there are peds, and I try to be a polite fellow to make up for all the
jerks on bikes out in Belle Meade. Come to a road block with a small
opening and three cops. "You cant ride here, boy!" Me: "Sorry, I
assumed you were just blocking motorized traffic." I rode on and
towards the exit. Cop cuts my off on an ATV and says, you need to come
back when youre told to. I never heard anything. Ride back and they
threaten to throw me in jail for not obeying a police officer, and mock
me, "how long you been riding in the street, boy?" Me:"About 25 years."
Then: "You know you need to follow the same rules as cars?" Duh. Of
course, but cyclists have additional rights to motorists that apply to
parks and cycle paths. With his logic, we should be  ticketing children
for riding on sidewalks. He threatens to haul me to jail several times,
and his buddy with mirrored glasses calls a musician "arrogant" for
wanting to be let through to drop off his gear. Finally got a $50
ticket for "disobeying an officer".

Its not the first time a cop in this city has just randomly
brainf*cked me either. Ive been pulled over a couple times and the cop
got mad that I *wasnt* drunk, so made me do all sorts of bizarre
things while I begged to just blow so I could get home.

Forgot to mention: several cars pulled in after me as they thought the
same thing, that just one lane was blocked. The cops yelled at three of
them to "FREEZE", collected licenses, strutted about, and wrote
gargantuan tickets.

What exactly was accomplished? Beats me.

Its very different I assume for you in the states, Not once have I stopped when shouted at by a policeman on my MTB.  Over there I expect you get shot!

Guys like that obviously have a small dick complex, or they wouldnt feel the need to abuse their power in such a fascist manner

lol.. naaah they just "deploy stingers" and you get 15 news helicopters following you with that Sherriff John Blundell person going "This cyclist thought he could get away from police, watch as he travels at dangerous high speeds! (30mph) weaving through the morning traffic as if they wernt there. Dont worry as the deputys of the butcher holler police department are on the case. Theyve deployed stingers up ahead, and theyve got roadblocks. set up. Theres nowhere for this man to go!"

Then... you get hit by that spotlight. All for riding on a pavement for a short period of time.

It would be a cops word against Maxs.  Hed end up getting lumped with court fees and a fine.

Exactly. Him and his buddies have a racket going. Ive got no chance.

The local gay pride was just shutting down in the park, so Im wondering if they spent all day being jackasses. I wrote to the local LGBT organization to see if  there was a systematic abuse of police power during their celebration as well. Wouldnt surprise me. The local force is almost beyond what you see in film. Ive spend a few hours in holding on mistaken ID and its appalling how sadistic they are. I begged for them to get medical attention for a heroin addict that was freaking out, but they though it more amusing to handcuff him to a railing and laugh as he went into convulsions.
