Rode out twelve miles to pick up the VW (an 8 mile detour to the bike shop included) and for about two of those miles, you have to ride on Hermitage Avenue, which is a two lane thing with a turn lane, way too much congestion, all sorts of industrial debris, and a 45mph speed limit. Needless to say, I went against my usual advice, and rode the abandoned sidewalk at a reasonable 15mph or so. This sidewalk is covered in glass, and is probably actually walked on by three people a week. So Im screaming down a hill, theres an underpass, and all of a sudden I have a choice: run into a utility pole, or over half a beer bottle. CRUNCH. I winced as I had no spare tube, and only a single patch in the pack. I kept riding down the hill waiting for hissing. None. Not even a flipping cut! I was thinking about mounting up something thinner for more speed during spring and summer, but after this, Im staying with the IRCs. 8)

Nice one :) I ended up stopped at traffic lights only yesterday after my tyre made a pinging noise, looked down. Appeared I was stopped dead on some lovely shards of wingmirror. survived the encounter lovely.
