Title: VW Jetta oil capacity?
Post by: maximusotter on March 28, 2007, 17:50:05 PM
Gonna change the oil as Im doing a bit of a trip in the morning, and cant be bothered to wait in line at one of the annoying lube joints. Last one I checked wanted $40 for a change. I can do it myself with Mobil 1 for that amount of cabbage. Anyway, the web seems to say that its 4.5 L or therebouts. Sound about right? For the US spec basic 2.0L four banger. Of course Ill check with the dipstick, dipsticks, just want to get close to begin with. No, it doesnt say in the messy manual what the capacity is. Yes, I have a plastic sump for recycling, as I worship groundwater and fish. :P

if it is the AEG 2.0L found in the beetle, passat and golf then it is 4.0L.

most oil comes in 4.5 litre bottles so just fill it to 3.5L and then keep adding a bit and check the dip stick every time.
