411lbs of bloke. Doing something about it.

Same commute distance as myself roughly... really is inspiring stuff.

Not very inspiring. The guy quit after 3 months to drink beer, scratch his balls, watch footie, and muse about trying something else.

Power to him and anybody else that tries to lose the flab, but going balls out in the beginning is natures great unmotivator.

You are right Maxim, I sorta did drop off after 3 months. I will do a post on what you said, because I think its true. Going all out in the beginning with no real plan is always bound for failure. Hopefully after going all out, seeying what is needed and failing I will be able to push properly now, slow and steadily, and will make it. There are enough failure stories out there over this, to not want to become one of them.

I needed your comment though, everyone is too nice sometimes, nice to get a reality check, Im never going to make it by drinking beer and watching football.

Specially now that Switzerland is out :(

maximusotter

LOL, welcome to the forums, mate. Take my previous post with a giant grain of salt.

Looking at my own pile of empties and a TV constantly tuned to football, Im one to talk. :D

I found exactly the opposite.

When I started training i went absolutely flat out and I was DETERMINED it was going to work - there were times i couldnt even sit down without virtually collapsing after doing squats, and times were I thought the tendons were literally going to tear off my arms - but bit by bit it has got easier and worked.

Still hurts like hell the day after though - but the key thing is its just for a day now - not for a week, and the frequent bruising is (Just about) a thing of the past.

Mark

Man I hope that guy is like 7 foot 10

Glen Ross is that weight, and he looks fat, and hes a strongman.

M3ta7h3ad

think hes a normal 6ftish like us lot. Which is why im astounded. I hated riding at first due to worrying about people seeing me on a bike and laughing.

Now I couldnt care what I look like.

maximusotter

Im more inspired by seeing a clyde on a bike than some already buff dude.

Ill admit to loving pulling up behind a fit woman in lycra, her  glutes pumping like piglets in a gunny sack.  :heehaw:

redneck

now i see why your mad about the sport.

i would but i think lycra would ride up a bit to far ifyaknowhwatimeanliek

M3ta7h3ad

he is a clyde :) not a buff guy.

thorton

I am a clyde heh.

The bike riding is hard, but when you are the weight I am you need a cardio that is low impact on the joints. Cycling is just that, a hard cardio that is low impact, plus I love to cycle.

In all honesty, alot of people who I have met through blogging ect who are loosing weight are doing it through cycling. I have met more people who have lost 100+ pounds and kept it off for years through cycling than any other sport. So it is looks like I wisll stick to this sport for now, adding in swimming soon.

There is a link on my blog now, for a friend Tom, who lost 350 pounds through surgery, cycling, and diet. If you want to check it out just click on the link in the latest post and it will take you to his site where the video is.

Thanks again to M3tah3ad for showing me this site, and maxim for being so brutally honest ;)

Swimmings even better than cycling, I just dont have a good lap pool nearby. I love putting on some googles and earplugs and doing an hours breaststroke. Totally blissful. :)
