Got to work today and as I joined the wait for the car park this odd low deep rumbling noise started coming from the front of the car. Made this noise about 2/3 times before I parked. Just took it around the car park a couple of times and its still doing it. Doesnt seem to be any pattern to it - straight line, corning, accel, decel etc.. and its not the engine because I just revved it for 3/4 mins to jump start someone elses car and it was all fine. No power loss or bumping or anything - youd never know if you were deaf!

Any ideas guys as Im worried about the drive home?

Drive shaft? Checked your CV boots? Just because it sounds like its from the engine bay isnt always the case....

possibly a wheel bearing, or more likely the disks binding up.  Been long since you had the brakes looked at?  I know my old Honda had a nasty habit of not disengaging the pads properly.  Usually to free it off you just tapped the brake pedal lightly and they then bounced off.  An hour and some copper grease fixed it in the end.

Had the brake pads changed at last MOT almost a year ago otherwise no. My dad thought wheel bearing was a possibility. Im lucky that I car share and its not my turn next week so provided it gets me home ok Ive plenty of time to get it fixed.
