I currently use a couple of widescreen Dell monitors and my main one has began to exhibit what can only be described as a smudge or burn that won't clean or wipe away. Bottom right quadrant, smack bang in the middle. It's not like screen burn and there is no discernable image, it looks like something that should easily be wiped away but it won't budge. It doesn't seem to be getting worse. It's only really noticeable on white backgrounds as well, for instance at the moment you really can't see it against the Tek Bl00.
Is this a forthcoming sign of a dead monitor? Or since the monitor is out of warranty is it just best to ignore it and swap it for my secondary? Or is there any dismantling and tinkering I can do at my end to help rectify the situation?
Is what your describing kind of like a small thumb sized patch where there's a colour that looks off or faded? Any chance you could take a photo. Personally, I'd swap it for the main one for now, I don't think there is much you can do in terms of servicing it though.

Pretty much. Although with blurred edges. It just looks like something you could rub off, except you can't no matter how hard you try. I'll try and get some pictures in natural light in the morning.
