theres a router running a 2 meg connection
and a pc with a 8meg connection with ICS on (the xp version)

any chance I can use both at the same time ?

no chance of a fancy router to do it, phone lines too far away.... and I want to do it without anyone else on the network knowing ;)

If it is possible it wouldnt give you a 10mb connection.

The max speed you could download a single file would be the max speed of the 8mb line unless you were using something like bit torrent where the file would be split up and download, then you could max out both lines :)

^^ doh

oh well no matter then... the "8 meg" ling is pretty sucky toping out at just over 300kbs when your lucky.... I get 240 from the 2 meg line 24/7, so Ill just stick with that :)

had a think...

and how do I set that up ? or what do I google for ?

using both noe for getting something from ftp... got both downloading from into the same folder... if ones downlaoding a file theother skips it and goes onto the next etc... can easy run 2 instances of flashfxp!)

///would be much easier if i could do it on 1 pc instead of needing to use 2 !

cisco routers can do bonded adsl. but I think Cypher and Mark are the guys to ask about that malarky.

the poblem is that the telephone lines are too far away

Ive got one connection via ICS on 192.168.0.1
and one via a router on 192.168.0.254

round a little switch/box/thing that could do it earlier on... but it was slated in the reviews :(

I know how to set one connection as a main connection and another as a backup if one falls over.... zoon showed me how to do it years ago !

something like that looks good if it would work..... but it gets slated when its reviewed :(

If youve got an old ~P200 lying around you could set it up as a smoothwall. That can then be customised (hacked, read their forums) to have to red (internet) interfaces. Can even do load balancing and everything (though Ive never tried it).
