After a few days of searching around Iââ,¬â,,¢ve found the parts I need for my system upgrade but before I order id like to know if my Antec True Power 430W PSU will be up to the job?

How old is the PSU?

I had a 500w Enermax that was 5 years old (which cost me an arm and a leg), when bought it was top of the line, after 5 years of 24/7 it struggled to keep a modern system stable.

*Edit - It ran three different systems during this time, each with quite a few extras, 120mm fans, lots of drives etc.

Smugs

3 years.

Atm its running a Athlon 2700, 6800 gfx card, two maxtor HDD, 4 80mm case fans + a slot fan by the gfx card and a top notch 80mm fan on the HS.

Cypher

Its up to the job, but play it safe and go 500+ imo.

Serious

If its got a dual 12 volt rail then its probably going to handle it OK, if not then it might be safer to get a new one.

White Giant

Give it a go, but personally Id go for a new one.

filbert

Ive got an amd 3800+x2 overclocked to 2.4ghz, 6800GT, 1 extra case fan, and Im using my old Enermax 360w no problem at all

After a bit of reading up I found out that the new boards use 24pin ATX connectors and my PSU is 20pin, so I decided to upgrade my PSU as well to the newer Antec Truepower Trio 550w.

Leon

Im running a AMD 3200 x64, ATI x800xt pe, 2gig ram, 1x raptor, 1x 250 Western Digital and a DVD burner on a 240w PSU

Its not about the wattage, a decent low one will easily outshine a cheap big one :P
