i am having a few problems with my gfx card (8800gts 320) so here is my question , which would be the faster of these 2 ? . the 8800gts 320 or the Radeon HD 3870 ? ,would the 3870 be faster than my old card
Little in it but the 3870 just,
would it be worth replacing this card with the 8800gtx ?
What did you end up doing? 9600GT seems to be the obvious choice now for £113.
Why not post some details of the problem youre having, perhaps with some screenies and then we could have a go at fixing your problem and saving you a few hundred quid...?
IF YOUR 8800 GTS 320GB CARD IS WORKING WHY DONT YOU JUST OVERCLOCK IT I THINK THE 8800 WOULD BE FASTER OVERCLOCKED :w00t:

I ENJOY TYPING IN LARGE LETTERS SO PEOPLE WILL LISTEN TO ME! BECAUSE I DONT HAVE ANY IDEA HOW TO BEHAVE ONLINE!
no my cap lock was on and i was just to lazy to turn it off lol
3870 is slightly faster than a 8800GTS, and about £80 cheaper. That would suggest avoiding the GTS unless you really MUST have an nVidia card.
i ended up with the triplex hd3870 xt , a cheapo make which is smaller than the stock 3870s . i sold my 8800gts 320 on the bay for £90 , so all this card cost me is £20 odd quid and it works great but will not overclock :(
my xfx 8800 gts 320mb is running at 640 core/1602 shader/1020 memory and still has head room for more using stock fan
i am tempted in getting a 8800gtx , seen a new one for £200 but are they still worth it ?
id go for the 8800gt they say its almost as fast as a gtx and you get 2.0
