Walrusbonzo

Ive just found an online music store that only sells lossless compressed music.  They also have a collection of High Def 5.1 releases, some DRM free too!!!

Music Giants

ACE!

EDIT: Load of bollocks TBH, I cant buy the Super HD version of Al Di Meolas Flesh on Flesh.

DEViANCE

wont work in firefox for me and cant even get to it in WMP

Walrusbonzo

Well, I slightly take back the excellent music store.....

Its only works in IE.  Selection is currently poor, and not EVERYTHING is DRM free, but most is.

Sam

I buy cds, theyre loseless too and cheaper.

Walrusbonzo

Yeah, I buy CDs too.  Never bought a download.

But for them to offer some high def stuff too is great.

Shame I cant buy from them, looks like its US only.

Setting up a site like this is utterly stupid if it costs more than CDs, from which you can make your own lossless copy anyway.

Why do these companies seem to think the digital age is for the moronic, more money than sense iPod crowd.

neXus

Walrusbonzo  I think you jumped the gun there, that is a terrible site, lol.

Because they hope to find enough Ipod owning morons to supply them with money to live on?

I buy CDs too, better value on average and usually there is no problem copying.

El Jacko

I dont buy too many CDs anymore. Tesco Downloads sell albums for £7.98, so unless I can get a CD cheaper then tescos is for me.

Cypher

Ive never bought an album online in mylife.  Im quite happy getting the CD from the shop or Play.  Even vinyl still has a place for me.

But its £8 just for the download? You can get most albums cheaper than that.

White Giant

I only buy collectors editions with extra artwork or something these days. Actually I can remember the last time I bought a CD - over 3 years ago now - nothing since has interested me enough to be worth paying for.

I buy CDs when theyre cheaper than the download btw

I dont really see the current market of digital selling lasting as it is for the forseable future.  Not with the music industries attotude of having all rights to produced music to milk and market as they please.

I mean look, free album, here, whateve format you want.  With not being associated with a record label, the track listing and lyrics were finished on a Wednesday (May 1), the final mix and sequencing on Thursday, the mastering on Friday, artwork on Saturday, and the album was released on Sunday (May 5).  Something that would have never been done under a record label.

# High-quality MP3s (87 mb), encoded with LAME at V0, fully tagged.
# FLAC lossless (259 mb)
# FLAC high definition 24/96 (942 mb), better-than-CD-quality 24bit 96kHz audio
# M4A Apple Lossless (263 mb)

Some bands are even considering not releasing music so much as albums but indivual tracks.

The current digital online format is just the paving stones to slow changes imo.
