Title: A Scanner Darkly
Post by: skidzilla on March 26, 2006, 09:01:28 AM
Trailer here. (http://pdl.warnerbros.com/wip/us/med/scanner_darkly/scanner_darkly_a_tlr2_qt_700.mov) :o :D

Hopefully will do justice to a fantastic book (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Scanner_Darkly), but definitely offers something different in terms of visual style in any case. :)

Not seen the book or even heard of the story before, but somehow I found myself looking at the trailer for this - it looks brilliant! But I cant find a UK release date for it...

I saw a trailer for this many months ago and was hooked.  The rotoscoping looks great.

Cant wait :)

But Keanu?...

Well every book of Philip K Dick thats been used as a basis of a movie has been a corker, every director has done them justice, Blade Runner, Total Recall, Minority Report to name a few. Looking forward to this one but I just hope it doesnt suck

Minority report wasnt too bad, I was pleasantly surprised. Paycheck however was mind numbingly bad. Ive seen an okay-ish adaptation of Second Variety called "Screamers" as well.

That dumbfounded, partially retarded sounding quote in the trailer, "groooooann, the two hemispheres of my brain... are competing?!" Seems to suit Keanu for some reason

One of my Fave books of all time. In fact alot of his books are.  When i first heard they were going to do a film of it i was a bit worried but after watching the trailer last week I was impressed. It really does look like they have pulled this one off and the style they have done it really does look good :)
