Ã,£220

A step in the right direction? Worth the Ã,£220?
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Norphy

Considering you can buy an xbox 360 for Ã,£220, no. Rip off imo.

If you have an SLI board, you may as well just get a second gfx card. I seem to remember that Nvidia are developing SLI software that would allow 1 card to work as a ppu and the other for graphics in an sli setup. Then theres also the bonus that with any game that doesnt use the ppu, youve got SLI graphics :)

Leon

Already got top of the range machine you cant upgrade anymore and want to spend some money... sure.

Otherwise I would do as said above, get a SLI setup as its going ot be more use untill the tech is used abit more.

Plus Ive been reading about quite a few teething problems from these cards which is too be expected as its something new.

looks relatively funky, till something that relies on the ppu properly (UT2007 maybe?) i doubt itll make much of a difference apart from showing off factor till then....
there is a demo with the card that does show it off nicely though that comes with it, can you say exploding chunks of crate blown up indirectly kills

the havoxFX (graphics card based) physics thing is a semi waste of time from what ive read,
it runs on shader model 3.0 input which is fine (might even run on ati like...) but it doesnt have a proper means of telling the game what the outcome of an equation is, eye candy only physics.
So none of your proper game collition detection physics will work off that, more over itll probably just be simulating things like water surfaces and particles etc... *yawn*

cant even see the point of SLI at the minute, by the time youve saved for your second card, the top of the line card is nearly how much you spent on the first.... and if its been a generation or two it performs better than the original in sli anyhow

Quick answers, yes & no.  now is not the right time to buying one while relatively few games will take advantage of the card.
