Last week i was looking things up and noticed the AMD 6000+ was nearly £300, might as well by Intel.  Today was just checking a few things out and found that Scan had the 6000+ in for £156, aria are similarly priced, but ebuyer havent got them down that low.  Im assuming its a new pricing structure, and as of now its just withing my budget!

Right then, advice/suggestions is welcome:

1 x AMD 6000+
2 x 1Gb Generic SCAN Memory 5-5-5-12
1 x 256MB Sapphire Radeon X1950GT
2 x 40Gb HGST SATA 300, 8.9ms - For RAID, all my large storage is in the NAS.
1 x Asus M2A-VM HDMI, AMD 690G - I have an Aspire Q-Pack case that this rig will be going in, so must be uATX.  other suggestions welcome if you have experience with something.

I already have a Shiny Sony 16x DVD Writer, and the PSU is 420W.
other options are to go for 4Gb of cheap RAM, or stick with 2Gb and go for Corsair.  the cheap RAM is the same spec as XMS Pro, and only £36 per Gb, rather than £80 per Gb.

edit : At the moment it comes in at £430, will go as high as £500 if its really worth it.  I would prefer an AMD chipset because the Barca Cores are supposed to be Pin compatible with the newer AMD chipsets.

go for the good ram, its worth it for the extra raliability (im my experience)

Id stay away from the generic stuff too.... stick with the corsair, or crucial etc...  (crucial lifetime warenty is a nice bonus!)

Beaker

oops, accidentally ordered stuff

1 x AMD 6000+
2 x 1Gb Generic SCAN Memory 5-5-5-12
1 x 256MB Asus Radeon 1950Pro.
2 x 80GB Maxtor Plus 20 SATA300
1 x Asus M2A-VM
1 x 120mm North-Q Ceramic bearing Fan.

Decided to risk the cheap RAM, if it isnt any good ill buy some Corsair, but the price difference I feel is worth the risk (If it works ok ill buy another 2Gb next month).  The 1950Pro was slight cockup, thought i had ordered the 512Mb version, but i checked out and paid before I realised my mistake.  Doesnt really matter as it should still tank along without a care in the world.

i think it should fly quite nicely.

£470 give or take £5.  Should mean I dont have to bother upgrading for at least year, other than adding the obvious extra 2Gb of RAM at some point.

Tossers
Just got a sorry we cannot compelete your order message from them.  Ill be screwed if im ordering a more expensive and slower FX-62

Sorted (I think).  I do hate being messed around though.  Ended up ordering from TekHeads & Scan, though i would have preferred to get my tekheads order sent to work.  Would have got the lot from there, but they didnt have any 690G motherboards in stock :(

Scan are showing OOS on the 6000, but I see Komplet have it in for a bit less. Id be slightly tempted, though having to buy a new board and ram to move up from a San Diego 4000 puts me off a bit.

Scan showed them as available, then changed thei rmind.  Ive ordered the CPU & Graphics form tekheads, will ring scan tomorrow if i cant find an ATi 690 motherboard somewhere.  Seems that the Asus is probably the only one ill get that i would touch, the Sapphire isnt available anywhere!
