Whats the easiest setup with minimal amount of stuff?

I read teh beatles instruments are backwards compatible with Guitar Hero,
but I read the rockband downloadable content cant be played, only the beatles one..
is that right?

I was thinking of getting guitar hero aerosmith + the guitar - will that allow me to play guitar hero downloadable content?
or do I have to have the world tour edition?

etc. etc.

from what I can work out..

Beatles is beatles sh*t only, but the instruments are cross compatible..
So if I bought that, rockband 2 & guitar hero world tour - then I have all my bases  covered?

?

I have the GH3 guitar which works with world tour etc, however I would go for the most recent "hardware" you can and get discs for the older games on fleabay. Reason being is I find the hardware to improve a bit each release, as well as having more buttons etc.

I wanted to know the cheapest way of having a compatible setup for both games.
It seems Beatles is only compatible the beatles download.

So I am guessing :-

Beatles Rockband complete kit for beatles & beatles ps store tracks
Rockband 2 (& use beatles instruments) for ps store tracks
guitar hero world tour + guitar (& use beatles drums) for ps store tracks

Is that right? or is there somthing I dont need?

Or It seems I can buy GHWT complete & use that guitar & drum kit for rockband.

Get the cheapest ones, and use Frets on Fire.

I should have said, im only interested in using this on the console.

the aerosmith GH has aerosmith songs and some other artists. i was led to believe that the guitar i have with the aerosmith one wasa v2. i think the rockband beatles might have been improved, but the one in the shop i was looking at looked pretty similar.

pm me if you fancy a cheap GH aerosmith for xbox360, ive just traded my 360 in for a ps3.

I havent switched on my xbox360 in over a year. PS3 is my main console now.

Dont go for the Beatles instruments, they are very overpriced and very cheap and sh*tty. The GH ones are much better quality and can take a beating without breaking and are cheaper. As you are wanting it on PS3 though Im not sure about instrument compatibility. I know on the 360 the GH instruments work on all the games.

As for the songs - The Beatles songs, including the upcoming album downloads, can only be played on The Beatles Rock Band and you cant play any other Rock Band songs on the game. Rock Band 2 would be the best game for DLC as they improved on Rock Band 1 and allowed all the DLC to be work on both games. Gameplay wise though I prefer the GH games as they are more challenging. Guitar Hero 5 is that latest one and can play almost all of the DLC that was released for World Tour.
