When inserting USB-stick or attaching other mowable storage this window asks what one wants to do play movie, show pictures or do nothing.
I never use it, how do I make it not pop up ever ?

mrt

Isnt there a right click - properties option to stop it auto playing ??  I remember switching it off on a DVD-drive?

bear

Well, I do not want to have to do it for each device.

if you use the same usb device alot, e.g. an external usb hard drive. what ive done is mount the usb as a folder on the c:/ drive and then created a shortcut to it on the desktop for easy access, it also means that the same device will be associated with the mount folder each time its plugged in, whereas windows usally mounts it as a drive in my computer and gives it the next available letter.

i used these instructions here:

also forgot to mention, it will stop that popup for you.

Good stuff but I do not want to mount to C: which is the only option :(
I want to mount on a shared disk.

Seems like I have to do for each unit anyway.

Try opening my computer, right click on drive, properties and then the AUTOPLAY tab...

Select the kind of file, action to perform, take no action.

bear

I know how to do one by one just do want to have to do it for each new device.

How many Mass Storage Devices are you packin Bear?

bear

couple of sticks, a movable HDD 10 Gb, camera which I move betwix two puters with the same annoying popup.

mrt

So 4 devices then ... erm ... "lazy" is the word of the day  ;)

bear

It should have a tick box "do not ask me this again"

This one?

What about Take No Action combined with Always do the selected Action

That was what I thought, but no cigar  :) I have looked in all obvious places thought tweakUI would have something but no.

Its an issue that seems to affect some computers, TBH on one of mine it never worked anyway and I ended up using the drive properties option. If you only have four drives then it shouldnt take long anyway.
