Ill learn one day not to mess, but the new openSuse 11 got me tempted.
It looks like its to compete against ubuntu.  Ill report back if I can get it to work.

Just starting the installation.  Its detected that my laptop is a Latitude D505 and is loading the relevent drivers.

Nah, that level of smugness is reserved strictly for Mac and Ubuntu users.

So far so good, found my wireless network and everything ive plugged in so far works.
Keep getting the crash manager window pop up like the microsofts "report this crash to microsoft" pop up.
Seems snappy enough on KDE 4.0 too, MP3 out the box.

Just a shame its still got Firefox 3 beta 5 on there.

Crash manager is probably due to KDE4.  Ill be rolling it up to 4.1 as that has a shedload of bug fixes.  im looking forwards to rolling it out on my lappy, I prefer Linux for everything but games.  Im already getting stick about the fact Novell have done a deal with MS, and im informed its now "MS Linux", which is a complete crock.  Please note, the people saying that are Ubuntu zealots to a man.

Edit :: Yesterday I was getting about 24k on downloads from the site, and not much better over Bitorrent.  Today im getting 1.2Mb from the website.  I was kind of expecting it, but its amazing how hammered the servers get teh 1st day in.

Yeah KDE 4 is a massive regression from 3.5.9 functionality-wise at the moment. Stick 3.5.9 on and set it as default and youll see far less crashing.
Got compiz-fusion working yet? Its the snazziest thing about Linux IMO. :)

I dont think KDE 4 will be feature/stability comparable until about 4.3, so well just have to wait. Its all style and no substance right now.
