What are the rules around console gaming in a business premises?

For example: A shop that has an area set aside for gaming with a big screen and a console renting it out by the hour for people to play on it. How does the licensing work for the gaming? And does it change if the player brings his own game?

Is there a special license or is it a case of writing to Sony/Microsoft to get a set license?

Serious

I assume that the licencing agreement on normal commercial home use games has a clause against you doing this but have no idea of the business rental. Plenty of shops do demonstrations and in japan internet cafes charge for the equipment use for games, this will be the same in the UK.

There are also a lot of shops playing home use music CDs all of which could be done under copyright laws

I would expect that if the player brings their own game then there should be no problem as you would only be renting the use of the equipment, same as if they used an internet game through your connection.

Might be worth asking at a rental shop that does games
