They only come out of 360, mostly.
Managed to find the time to play the demo for 10 minutes, seems fairly good. Only played Marine though. :)
Been playing the demo a lot on the PC. Tried all three classes and once again I end up going back to the Aliens like the previous two games :D
Loving the demo and have it pre-ordered from Zavvi for just shy of £17.
Surprised in that video a lot more of the aliens arent running about taking out the lights.

Getting this on steam...15gb, blimey. I remember the days when youd get a couple of games on a floppy disk :/
Blimey this game is good.
Not too hard (yet) and not too easy. At least unlike AvP1 I can actually make it through the first level. Am liking the mix between suspenseful tension and all out manic chaos when it all goes to hell :D
To finish the sentence...."piss myself"

Meh, well thats the marine story arc done. Cant fault the quality but its pretty short. 9am -11.30am, 2pm-4pm and its done. I guess in the scheme of things if each campaign is that long itll be longer than games like Modern Warfare 2. But meh. At least now I get to play as the fun guys :D
the marines are the fun guys!
Traditionally theyve been the bricking your pants guys. The aliens and predators have always been the equivalent of a sandbox campaign letting you be as brutal or stealthy as you like, with the main difference between the two being one involves a lot of motion sickness inducing wall running etc ><
Well that was over quickly. I dont think the marines campaign is any longer than the aliens or predators, but because of the play style involved I dont think you progress as quickly. (IE, spending half the time cowering in the corner whenever you hear the motion tracker blip, compared to stealthily kicking ass as the predator or alien).
My favourite has got to be the predator. Started off as the hardest of the 3 to play, but by the end with the full kit it was just overkill.

Anyone else getting epic fail on the PC AVP Multiplayer? Mega connection issues going on :(
Noticed steam downloaded an update for AvP today so gave the multiplayer another blast. 3 of 3 games connected with no lag either, yay. I seem to kick ass as an alien, though it makes me feel a little ill. I actually dont mind whatever race I play as they all seem pretty well balanced, or at least I seem to be playing numpties at the moment :D
I heard the basics of the game are good but it aint a good game.
Game mechanics are janky. On the Console version auto aim targets invisible targets (predators),
With the movement of an Alien in multiplayer any kind of lag even small trying to shoot one is a bitch,
As an alien you have similar issues run past and turn as you over shot and, ooops dead,
Your killing someone with an animation means your going to die,
Single Player too short,
And a number of other issues.
It seems this is a good start to get back into the series for the original team that did the Jag version and if they build on this they can get a good game out.
Side note:
Best FPS Game Engine at the moment for me looks to be Bad Company 2. The sound and atmosphere on that game looks great AND it is coming to PC! woot.
Battlefield 3 proper is a while off but that should be epic.
QuoteI heard the basics of the game are good but it aint a good game.
Id beg to differ...

Maybe these issues are console specific...on the pc version Ive not noticed anything like this.
QuoteWith the movement of an Alien in multiplayer any kind of lag even small trying to shoot one is a bitch,
Ive noticed a little bit of lag in one game before the patch yesterday, but it was still possible to kill the buggers.
QuoteAs an alien you have similar issues run past and turn as you over shot and, ooops dead,
Not had any issues. The game has been made I think to make it so as an alien you have to be careful. When you get hit you get knocked about (any species). Aliens are fragile, but hard hitters. When you get into a fight as one the winner tends to be the person who knows how and when to block and is the one who is able to relocate the enemy after getting hit the quickest.
QuoteYour killing someone with an animation means your going to die,
This is no different to the massively popular Gears of War. People dont complain in that when they are chainsawing an enemy and then the guys buddy comes up and returns the favour when hes finished do they? The same applies to AvP tbh. If youre in a busy game with lots of players, you have to decide, quick normal kill or double point messy/stealth kill. Theres no right to complain if you get killed doing a long animation kill, you didnt have to. The game loading screens even warn you that doing these things leaves you vulnerable.
QuoteSingle Player too short,
I admit I was a little disappointed with this, but you have to consider this is technically just 1 game, and ~15 hours play time for a single FPS game isnt *too* bad, compared to some alternatives nowadays. In fact, one of Serious Sams selling points was how you could do a speed run through the whole game in an afternoon :D
Dont get me wrong, Im not a massive fan of the game and think its the best game of all time. I just think that a lot of the negative stuff floating around is unfounded, maybe because it doesnt quite meet the elitist hardcore alien/predator fans standards, or maybe because it seems to be a popular pastime to knock Rebellion...
Considering the games around it, from what I have played, seen and read it is not up to par. Maybe a few years ago this would be considered really good but it does not look to be that.
Every person and game is different, beauty of the industry. You buy a game and if you like it good and your opinion will always differ in some form or another.
No excuse for the contents of the game being so thin. Modern Warefare 2 single player was moaned at for being shorter and that lasts a bit longer then AvP and done better and then the multiplayer on top of that is far more rich.
Battlefield Bad Company 2 again has far more and looking far better then AvP.
If it was cheaper - Yeah, well worth it but just naming two FPS games around the same time as this it does not stack up when your paying the same.
I heard modern warfare 2 single player lasted ~6 hours, not the 15 hours at least that AvP does? Sure if you count each race as a separate "game" then yes they are short, but its far from reasonable to do so. If it cost £25 for a marine campaign Id expect a 15 hour marine campaign, as it is I dont think the game as a whole is that short.
Graphically I can see some issues, but at the same time I think its to do with making it work as seamlessly as possible?
Of the 3 AvP games Ive played this is by far the best...

Bad company 2 looks great and has an amazing multiplayer, MW2 looks great and has a great multiplayer, Bioshock is a good looking game and actually has a decent multiplayer, Borderlands is a strange game but the multiplayer mmo esk gameplay on that is pretty good, I think to many games have done a better job recently on most of the areas.
As an AvP fan it is nice to have a decent game out to play, but as an FPS in the current market it is not very good.
What can I say, each to their own :)
I initially found the MP disppointing to the point of dismay, but now its been fixed its good fun. Sure its no "continuous play" MP where you can be on it every night and not get bored, but its something fun as a game. Certainly Id imagine itd be quite fun at a LAN if it was possible to play on a lan with team species deathmatch, or infestation.
