Title: batch renaming mp3s
Post by: crazylegs on May 26, 2008, 19:55:51 PM
I have recently got my first ipod (yeah I know - years behind the rest of you!) and I have the task of getting all my music on to the ipod, which turns out to be a PITA as most I have have no artist or album in the properties etc

can someone give me a pointer to a decent program for batch renaming my mp3s to speed things up.
Im hoping theres software to rename all of the selected tracks to have the same album and artist for a start?

I have tried a program The Godfather but I cant work out how to use it

anyone used this or got others that are any good?

tag&rename

I would avoid the ones that offer to do it all automatically, as it can easily f**k up your whole collection

Total Commander has a good renaming function

I have been having a go with tag&rename and its pretty good once you get the jist of the file name mask commands
you can apply the album art to the mp3 also which is pretty good.

think that should do the job!

thanks

Unfortunately I think Im going to have to bite the bullet and buy my first Ipod soon, the price of hard drives is so expensive that replacing the 40GB one in my I-River with an 80GB or even 160GB would be so expensive that it would be cheaper to buy an Ipod Classic. It seems no one else is going for the very high capacity players and I just adore the convenience of having my entire music collection with me wherever I go.

we got rid of the old stereo in the living room and got the ipod classic with a Jivebox docking station that gives out 90watts - its pretty decent  .
the Jivebox got really good reviews by T3 mag, Id highly reccommend it to anyone looking to make the most out of their ipod

im going to get our second jivebox this week for upstairs I think, costco seems to have them at decent price still - £85 IIRC

you gotta love the coverflow facility on the ipos though, cant believe its taken me so long to get one, I though cos I drive everywhere Id never use it but we use it all over the house now and take it away with us - its like having a kid   :mutley:
