Wow, Gritty or what, really cool first two episodes of the series.
This, lost, smallville, stargate, atlantis to come this Heros where its a cross between xmen, real life now and a sci fi series, only seen trailers and clips on the web looks good.

Some really good shows around, quite a few others that are looking good as well.

A mate of mine has just started watching season 3 ... and recommended that I watch it.  Now, would you say that I could pick it up from Season 3 ... or would it be better to start from season 1?

Leon

Youve really got to watch it right from the pilot, yeah its a fair bit tv but trust me you wont be disapointed at all.  If you jump into season 3 now chances are youll just get yourself confused and itll seem crap.

Just watch it, you know you want to

Best show on TV at the moment. I was a huge fan of the original BSG so didnt think much of this when I heard about it "Starbuck is a GIRL?!" But I watched the pilot episode DVD that has been edited into a feature film and it was riveting viewing. I then purchased Season 1 and watched the episodes back to back, and Ive recently done the same with Season 2. I was expecting more generic brainless crap like Lost, Smallville, Stargate etc (sorry Nexus  ;) ) but am very glad I was proven wrong.

I think Ronald D Moores direction is simply stunning, it is everything Star Trek Voyager should have been. Thankfully weve seen the death of the Star Trek reset button in the new BSG.

Thing that worries me is that it will cost to much to expand and make even more new cool features and actors pay rises and Sci-Fi as they do all the time then can it in its prime, Just like Firefly (canned it really before even giving it a chance due to them not wanting to spend the cash on it) and Space above and beyond as only two examples.

I often make parallels between this and Space: Above and Beyond as that is possibly the only other Sci-Fi series I really compare to BSG. I do also worry about the money running out, but that said I also want them to quit while they are ahead and concentrate on spin-offs or movies or something else in their own BSG canon rather than flog a dead horse. Perhaps another few series.

I rather enjoyed the season opener, didnt dissapoint.  A very dark episode though I must say.

You dont have to watch it from the star, but I think you would find it easier to understand some concepts and certain characters if you watch it from the start.  Pilot & Season 1 is cheap enough on DVD.  Season 2 has just come out and is rather pricey atm.

Funnily enough the Pegasus set is just the scrapped Firefly project set with a touch of hammer and paint.

/Edit, it was from the scrapped pilot for the Lost In Space series, not firefly.

It was out of their budget to build another set.

Nice bit of info that, And if they had both running they would have money for nice new sets.

Now that Stargate has ended (for now) maybe they will put money back into some of the things they stoped (IE firefly) Since they wont sell to that inderpendent film company who want to take it up for season 2 maybe they are just milking the cancel waiting for the funds to come back in

Interesting this read here:
People have denied things before and the deal happerns the next day so ignore that tbh

Just holds water to me that although the sci-fi channel has had some amazing shows its far to into the money and has no care for any fan base. It is a company and there to make money but i get the sence that the they have and allways will have a fixed budget to profit ratio they will never change even if a show is doing well or not and thats sad.

Episode 3 part one of two. Very gritty once again, edge of sofa bed stuff as to how the crossroad points turn out throughout, part 2 is well set up and will have all the action.
Cool
Apperently moved from Monday To Friday now as well.

Quote from: CypherThey allways have been fridays.

And its a shame there only on Fridays, they need to me on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

So far its been brilliant imo, I cant wait for this weeks with the way the last episode built it up.

I think Sci Fi big wigs thinking that its costing them to much money and wanting it canned

11:30 US time is a little late and viewing figures are a little low in the us and tbh I think it is becuase of the time slot.

Space above and beyond 12am-1am US and 1am-2am UK time they had that on all the time trying to have a reason to can it.
