Anyone here signed up to Be24s ADSL2+ 24mbit package for Ã,£24 p/m? Ill be moving to London soon, and it looks like its available in my area - trying to decide between this and BlueYonder/Telewest.

Anyone heard any horror stories about service etc.

Hi Kunal,

Ive not heard any horror stories and last time i read on ADSLguide.org.uk that they were quiet good but was a few months ago i looked - visit http://www.adslguide.org.uk and see how people are raiig them, theres a message board and if you scroll down theres a link for each ISP i beleive and you can see comments by people etc...?

Ive had the service for ~4 months now, and a friend has had it for ~2 months - all is good so far.

I generally connect around 18mbit. Downloads from good sites regularly hit 1.3mb/s.

Had a couple of minor outages, but always planned & well communicated.

For the most part it sounds great.... until I heard o2 have taken over  :?  I think theyre planning on using Be24 as a platform for their free broadband service to take on Orange etc.

Dont want to sign up for a contract to see the service detiriorate like we have so many other great ISP once they get taken over by a bigun.

Right now its toss up between Be24 (Ã,£24 + Ã,£11 for BT phone line) or go with Telewest/Blueyonder 10mbit for Ã,£35.

I decided to go with Be24, so early in August I rang up BT to get a landline installed... this took them ages, had to wait two weeks for them to get the line sorted. Last thursday I ordered Betheres 24mbit unlimited package (no contract, didnt realise that) and it went live today (ADSL2+ modem/router/wireless came free, turned up yesterday).

What can I say, damn good service so far :D

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,325 / 15,454

Just fired up Newsleecher (using a Newshosting unlimited account, 8 connections) and right now its maxing out at 1.2mb/sec  8)  I think the line can handle more, seems like each connection maxes out at 150-160kb/sec. Im sure with a few more connections I could max the line out. Not that Im not satisfied with 1.2mb per sec!

Its the upload id like to see increase...im with ukonline and have capped myself at 12mb and can download at 1.2mb/s

Im on 10mbit NTL and im getting download speeds from an FTP using only 2 connections of 1.3mb/s

Seems a bit strange you lot on 24mbit ADSL are just getting the same speeds, Id expect close to double to be satisfied with going with that kinda adsl package.

Its still an adsl connection; youre still limited by the copper between you and the exchange. The further you are away, the closer the ADLS2+ speeds are going to be to, say adsl Max speeds. To get 24 Mbit, you have to be in the exchange toilet, as with the up to 8Mb service.

Id like to see the guys here who have it so far, post their exchange distances (viewable from www.samknows.com). Be unbundling coming to my exchange in Central Scotland in June...may be the end for Plusnet !

True... but skeleton staff then most likely, and all you need is one person keeping on the line.

TBH I havent encountered an ISP with bullet proof support. Bes may not be perfect but its certainly much better than Bulldog, BT & Pipex.

Ill run that exchange distance thing when I get home - lately Ive been connecting at 17.5mbit, getting over 2mb/sec from newsgroups.
