anyone know any decent dvr cctv software ?

Im using diginet 4.1.1 at the moment.... and its buggy as hell.... Id buy the newer version, but I don;t want to pay for it it might just be the same ?

all i need is 24/7 recording to disk
motion detection (over selectable areas)
streaming over the net to my home pc, where is can set off an alarm if it picks up motion

theres a few free ones about, and Id try them out.... but dont want to mess with the system too much while its (kind of) working

the system is a 3.4 P4 with HT, 1gig of ram, an 80gig OS HD, and a 1tb storage drive (might add another tb and raid them)

8port 120fps drv card... cant remember the make...

Would you not try one of the dedicated appliances with a web interface?

I looked at those when I was building the system (3 years ago) but it worked out about 2k dearer than if I built my own...

from what Ive seen, theyre just a pc in a different case with the same software as I run (or could run)

the problem is, most of the software packages are a good few hundred quid, and theres no free try etc...  so I dont want to start buying them to try just to find out theyre crap !

theres a few CCTV forums around..... but theyre all full of sales reps telling you how great there software is :(
