QuoteThe Church of England is considering legal action against entertainment firm Sony for featuring Manchester Cathedral in a violent PlayStation video game.

The Church says Sony did not obtain permission to use the interior in the war game Resistance: Fall of Man.

My first thought was they were overdoing it, but then again perhaps they are right about video games making us less sensitive to violence. There is claimed to be more evidence to support violent entertainment causing violence than passive smoking causing cancer.

Then again, perhaps a religious Christian organisation shouldnt really be seen as in any way supporting a violent game. At least not one that doesnt contain Christian knights, crusading righteously across continents, robbing, raping, pillaging, torturing and murdering people in the cause of their faith.

Not to imply that this happens nowadays, or that it applies to the war against terror or indeed the wars in Iraq or Afganistan. /winks at maxi...

Yeah, I honestly think though as they do they were approached they were told and they were "yeah yeah sure" But since its old fuddy duddy territory they did not understand really what they were asked for.
Then when you got people who go to the church parent wise telling them of their kids playing this horrible game with the church in it and now complaining about it.
Will have to see if Sony fish out the permission on Monday

doesnt surprise me, the HD-DVD drive for xbox 360 hit the market way before the playstation three did, and the fact that most people wont even know what Blu-Ray means....

HD-DVD does what it says on the tin, everyone has heard of High-Definition with it being hyped by the media for the last year, and so people see HD-DVD and think *wow* ... *what the hell is blu-ray*

Yep and the Porn Industry has gone with hd-dvd as well becuase overall it is cheaper but also Sony will not let any porn be made in their replication centres and there is a very limited number of trusted 3rd part centres who would.

HD-DVD was most likely to be the surviving format anyway.  It uses a tried and trusted brand name tied to a new one.  BluRay has no historical footprint in the home, and it doesnt clearly state "High Definition" in the name.  Remember, most people buy their kit from Currys, Comet and their ilk, they dont know what they are actually buying most of the time.

Indeed, I have always said that, Joe blogs walks into a store pics his hd-tv and wants a player he will go "Blue what now?"
