Im about to move into a new house so Im thinking about BB providers

Needs to be at least 4Meg with at least 30gig per month cap for my housemates work, but doesnt need to be fixed IP.

Im looking at Demon Home 8000 ATM, any thoughts or experiance?

Im willing to pay a bit extra to avoid the likes of Tiscali and NTL/Virgin and their associated problems, looking for a reasonably priced solution which does what it says on the tin.

do a samknows on the postcode or phone number and see who is available.  Personally if its available and you can get it then BeValue might be a decent option.  If Be* is available and you have O2 phones, you can get the 8mb package for about £7.50 a month IIRC.

What associated problems?

near total lack of customer support and numptys on the other end of the phone. Also a tendancy to forget to collect my direct debit and then get shirty with me for not paying my bill.

Im not dealing with the cheapy ones again.

Maximum exchange speed is apparently 6.5Mbs, since the line doesnt exist yet I cant put a phone number in but it certainly wont be more than that.

Whats Bes connection time like these days? I have this nagging recolection that they used to take an age to get things set up and I need it set up fast.

council who dug their cable up, they do a brilliant digital TV package as well, if you ask, they will do a deal on a phone as well.

agreed when was with telewest in London they were great, only 1 problem on we had was dead box and was replaced next day.

actually Im considering changing providers myself, Im still stuck on 512 with PIPEX.  Im not paying the £17 bill but its still silly.

Im using Zens 8000 active service, no problems to report there at all. Customer service has been faultless. They even have a bit on the website that shows you how long the current call queues are. Usually zero seconds

Plusnet are really good if you dont mind a useage cap (with unmetered overnight)

Am migrating to Be within a week or two, Ill offer my opinion of them in due course. They said 2-4 weeks, but gave me a time of 10 days when i actually went through the gubbins.

Yeah I got plus.net payg for £20-30/m its capped at what I want peaktime and free overnight, plus nothing gets throttled. I bitched at them about spam last year and they gave me like £75 back.

they said 10 working days to me on a Thursday, it think it was the following Tuesday that they actually activated the line.

when i used to live at home i was on Orange 8MB, unlimited usage (well so they say but its around 40GB per month i think) also with free LiveBox and unlimited calls blah blah blah (though i never used the LiveBox as its sh*t lol) ) and all for only £12 a month (originally £19.99), but i think to new customers now its something like £20 if i am right, the only reason we had our price lowered was because we were planning to go with a differnet ISP as at the time we were offered a better deal but the nice guy on the other end of the phone managed to come to some agreement   -) Now i am on Sky as part of there package deal on up to 16MB but we can only get 4.4MB where we are now and 40GB usuage per month.
