Title: BT Line Checker (I Assume)
Post by: Beaker on May 07, 2008, 07:41:40 AM
Just trying to get my Broadband ordered as the phoneline moved over the other day.  It seems that I cant actually get it sorted out because they havent updated something.  Im assuming a database that allows ISPs to check if a number is tied to a BT line.  Anyone here know how long it takes for them to sort it out?

http://www.samknows.com is a valuable tool for checking broadband.  TalkTalk broadband used it when I was there.

Yeah, this is the issue.  i know what companies I can go with, but the only ones I can actually get to recognise that its a BT line are BT and Plusnet.  Neither of which I want to use.  Im going with O2 becuase its quicker than the others can offer me (Except BeThere), and its £10 per month, free activation and should give me about 12Mb.  Just annoying that companies that arent BT owned cant do it at the moment.  I tried ringing BT, and they are less helpfull than a chocolate fireguard.

edit :: BTW, which site did you work at for TT?

Sounds like your local exchange doesnt have LLU equipment installed. SamKnows availability search will tell you who does.

Just managed to sort it before i headed off to work.  6-10 days for activation, though i had to ring O2s sales rather than do it online.  £10 a month, for pretty much unlimited (I Average 100Gb per month, so normal products arent much use), not shaped, not messed with im pretty happy :D

yeah, i was on Be Pro.  That said, if i had upload plus I would lose anything up to 2Mb download to get the extra upload, and its only £10 a month anyway.
