ok, time to admit it, ive joined the dark side.

built a hackintosh because ive been using django for 6 months and mac is unix based. which makes it far easier to install python and its libraries. and address them and import them into your code.

and the django stuff is flourishing. so im going to be buying a mac mini to work on for the near future and forgoing the windows side of things.

why? well the pc/mac thing is primarily a work tool for me now. i dont play games on a computer anymore. i work on them so i just want them to work and work right. time is spent developign a back end for a website, so i dont need that time to be spent messing about. python and python libraries on windows are a pita.

so right about now i fully expect to be flamed for crossing to the dark side.

ive always said macs were too expensive but if im honest, ive loved the fact that even though ive got os x running on some pretty old hardware, 2 yr old E8300 cpu, it just works. mac os is only 25 squids. no serial keys etc. fire the phone in and iphoto imports and uploads to flickr as quick as you like. its pretty mint.

so as of two weeks today im going to be doing design and development of website backends full time from the spare room. cant wait to be my own boss.

anyone got any tips as to how to register a company name etc.

using a program called Django, and using a computer designed for people who are missing fingers.  I see a pattern here...

Will you be forming a Limited Company or just as a Sole Trader?  For the latter, you dont register anything; just declare to HMRC that youre trading and the Tax/NI will start.
