Mixed bag for me, it looks alright for sure though I wish they just changed the name even a bit so it's not just a 'remake'

Looks good, won't be the same without Arnie, could have been called anything other than Total Recall and i would watch it, why does it have to be Total Recall, they could have called it Space Turbo Fight Fight.

Am I going to still wish I had a third hand?

I'm watching the 1080p trailer now...

I think its garbage tbh, the best bits are clearly all in the trailer (including all of the ripped of lines) and the action is going to be stupidly over the top. They should have called it something else so that people like me wouldn't be looking down on it from the off, if they had it could stand on it's own merits instead of in the shadow of Verhoeven's masterpiece.

DEViANCE

Mixed emotions from me as the trailer makes it look like a decent watchable film but the fact they have been so unoriginal and just basically copied somthing which should have some sort of heritage protection (like a listed building does) I think I'll give it a miss.

Mongoose

meh, looks like it's just a remake. I'll watch my copy of the Arnie version on DVD thanks.

They say it's closer to the original story and even scripting based on it. They had to change the movie for Arni and other casting and production changes.

Will have to see. I was impressed with the fluid camera work on the fights.

More interested in seeing this:

I'm sure the original story had unbelievable gun kata and wire-fu fights written in too  Being serious though, even if it was the case that its closer to the book why not give it a different name still, or just title it after the book (We Can Remember It For You Wholesale?) Thats right, a name that isn't a film reboot or sequal and an R-rating won't sell enough apparently.

Thing is, the Quaid played by Ahhhnold in Total Recall was a believable character because he himself is larger than life, and the supporting cast of villains were not outlandish, the whole thing was driven by the quality of the story and direction. In fact I can't think of a more loathsome pair of villains in recent memory than Cohaagen and Richter. I really don't see what they can achieve with this especially helmed by Len Wiseman directed Die Hard 4 and Underworld, neither of which were amazing. Like those two films it will be taking an underwhelming setup and dressing it up with fancy effects and fight choreography.

That Ted film looks awesome

Interesting to see how his Movie will do because hes been doing adult cartoons on TV. Movies are different. If this works then I am sure we will see many more.

The Family Guy Star wars though were awesome!

I think Nige, You hit the nail on head in one issue more then anything else.

The rating side of things. 80's movies we all love were 18+ and boom, cult stuff because there was no holds bared. The concept of making it fit the low ratings so more people can see it I hate. I can see why in terms of making money in these more difficult times but it still sucks.

I'm in two minds, I love the original but this looks interesting I'll give it that.  It might be different enough to make it stand out a bit but I'm not sure so far I'm still undecided as to weather I'll go and see it or rent it hmmm more trailers please.
