QuoteFor months, rumors have raged that the Call of Duty series would follow in the footsteps of Battlefield, its biggest rival in the military shooter genre, into the modern era of warfare. Today, the franchises publisher, Activision, made it official. Developed by COD creators Infinity Ward, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will eschew the franchises traditional World War II setting in favor of a fictional conflict set during contemporary times.

Interesting, now While battlefield 2 does have green maps it does not really hit the jungle area and with other games I think people are a little bored of the city or desert setting.
So will be interesting to see what they do, good decision though, I think they did WW2 to death now with the number of varied COD games

saw that before... looks bloody nice actually
im glad they moved onto the modern warfare... the whole second world war thing has been done to death
although fighting for the axis would be different

May I ask how as it was announced like just when I posted the news hence the date being new news :) And then the video followed shortly after.
You may have heard speculation but we all been wondering when on earth they would move from WW2 :)
I remember the old forums everyone thought with battlefield 2 they would follow suite but didnt.

Deaths Head

The trailer does a very good job in selling this game to me.  It looks like a proper sequel and not just a rehash like CoD3.

the middle eastern combat footage looks good
