Hi All,

My machine at home is currently acting like a radiator for my office, the whole case is pretty warm to touch.  I have some temp sensors inside and they report 40c-50c inside the case !!!! (i dont dare look at my cpu temperatures etc)

I used to have a watercooled case however i found this didnt really help as all i had was warm radiators outside the case so went back to air, which tbh has been ok till we got to summer.

I currently have an antec solo case with 2x 92mm fans on the front and 2 120mm fans on the rear.

If i got a new case with more fans all this will acheive is reducing the case temp and pumping yet more air out into the room (although the heat could just be coming off the case rather than out of it, so does anyone have a solution without putting my machine outside and does not cost a fortune and does not involve noise

Your machine should not really running that hot, what is the spec of it?

My old machine was exactly the same and acting as a radiator (with very hot air coming out). It was a hot Athlon, small cramped, case with too many devices in it. The new rig is actually blowing out cool air, so obviously is running both at a lower temperate and doesnt have pockets of heat building up inside, which I suspect is the problem you are having. Try rerouting the cabling and getting a better airflow through the machine, or consider changing the hardware for stuff that runs cooler.

Cable wise it is all tidy i spent time sorting that, all tied up out of way so the airflow is there just too much heat.

Guess im just wanting too much, as i want silence, cool and small

I do feel even a case with a fan on the side panel would help alot.

Ive not checked for a while but most cpus etc are stable running under those temps, i used to have problems like this but it rains to much down south these days

Some fixes without spending money:

Take the side of the case off on particularly warm nights.
Use one of those desk fans blowing inwards.
Stop download pron 24/7 and turn off your pc before you sleep

Improve air circulation in the room the case is in?

Just trying to think outside the box. If your room is anything like my room or the study in this house, the air just stands around in the room and it gets pretty hot in the summer sometimes. No matter how efficient the case is in sucking in air, if its sucking in warm air its going to be blowing out hotter air still and, as you say, act like a radiator? I find having a large fan blowing from outside the room into the room and towards the window helps a lot! (Even if it is just to cool yourself down!)

Ill be obvious and say, if your computer is on 24/7 it doesnt get a chance to cool down

You should borrow some inspiration from my recent shopping list. My rig is very quiet and very cool now, even using the stock fans and stock Intel cooler.

Yeah i like you case, the P182 but im fussy and not got much space so really its a bit big

With regards to the window it is open pretty much 24/7 i cant imagine sitting here if it was shut 8-)

Hehe stock cooler you don't know what quiet is then!

With 2 x 92mm fans on the front and 2 x 120mm fans on the rear no case should be getting warm to the touch tbh unless your running them all at something silly like 5v?

Take the side off you case after it has been running awhile and have a feel at your PSU, if it is working to hard it will throw out a lot of heat.

Have a look at you HDD temp's, IMO there are a better indication of temps inside your case than badly placed mobo sensors

yeah psu is getting quite hot so i guess i could try changing that.

any suggestions for what to change it to?

also if i was going to change the case i would probably go for the antec nine hundred for the cooling it offers, however i dont really like the look of it, so any suggestions of another case that is no bigger than that but offers the same amount of cooling potential?
